WHAT HAPPENED TO EDINA?

Post by GREEN MONSTER »

Couldn't take it any longer. Had to say something!
Edina has been a consistent and dominating force for a while, with strong teams coming up from 10's 12's and 14's for the last I don't know how long! What happened?? 14's falter at state, an obvious championship caliber team, 12's don't even get there? What is going on in green country! I have my idea's but would love to here from someone else.

Parity?

14U was a crap shoot. Most, maybe all, of the eight could have taken the title without shock and awe. I'm not as familiar with 12's, but a couple of years ago it was a major accomplishment getting through the American regional. Probably pretty much the same this year.

Edina hasn't been a dominating force for a while. With really good teams all around the state the "dominating" team is going to be rare.

Centennial won U12A and came in second at U14A. Apparently their U10A team also won their district. If anybody has a run in the future in HS that might be dominating, maybe it would be them. But they've always had very good youth teams and don't quite match the success at the Varsity level.

I would agree Centennial is on the move in the youth program. We'll see what happens when they get to the High School!!! You can have a great youth program but if you don't have good coaching in High School you won't get out of your region.

One of the stronger 10A players played with the Squirts and they also won Districts.

Well, as far as the 14s went, they had a tough draw, and there were a bunch of good teams at State. Let's also remember they sent another team to regions at that level.

14's came down to who had enough numbers to run 3+ lines. HS selection factored in a lot as it does every year. Congrtats to everyone that made it because your programs are the strongest.
