I'd say there's a big difference between being the team they were 4, 5 and 6 years ago and fading off the map. They ended the season #34 in PageStat2, will (probably) be playing the Gold Division of Schwan's Cup next year, and only had 4 bad games (on paper) all season. Take away their first two and last two games and you have a very respectable season.UntouchableFlow wrote:Slowly fading off of the map. As a private school once you stop winning, the good players stop coming. Unless a group of solid players comes to play at Holy Angels, I don't see them being the team that they were 5 years ago.
If you know something more about their team, by all means share, but I don't know that this season can really be looked at as the end of the road.

I think the truth is that the team had a few bad games this season and yes are losing 2 very key players but thats not to overlook their successes this past season and all the younger talent still coming through the program and what players end up attending the school next year is always a toss up. They may be an easy target now but it's obvious all of those players feel as though they have something to prove next season, and I believe they will.

AHA
They have some good offensive players returning in Bianchi, CJ Smith, Meador and the younger Hurley. They have a solid offensive defenseman in Mork.
That group of 5 will see alot of PP and PK time.
Their weaknesses will be defensive depth and goaltending, but that may change. They will not be big, so teams might be able to knock them around.
They will be the Missota Conference pre-season favorites, as they should be. They did qualify for the Gold bracket of Schwan's this year by winning Silver last season over CDH. I doubt they would opt out of the chance to play the big boys at the X (East, Tonka, Hill Murray, WBL, etc.)
Did I miss anything Zamman?

I am a little slow, it is not hockey season. Only checkbook hockey season...
In my opinion: I think last season was tough on this tema with the loss of all three Reilly's and Trebils illness. With that behind and adding Hengen as an associate, the team can concentrate more on the task at hand.
Goaltending is still my biggest concern, but you never know what you got till the season starts. I think we will see more production out of a few younger players along Hartley. He is so much better this year than last, but maybe not given the right line mates. I am not a coach, so I do not know what is best.
I will be ther rooting them on as usual and will stand behind them no matter what. I do know they will be ready to play.

They are definitely much improving and up and coming, but the favorite is a big stretch.
Re: AHA
That's a laugh, sure they took AHA to OT twice but being at the games I saw AHA control the games. A good goaltender can win any given game but to suddenly become conference favorites is a streach.flatontheice wrote:Chanhassen will be missota favorite.blueblood wrote:They have some good offensive players returning in Bianchi, CJ Smith, Meador and the younger Hurley. Rumor I heard is that Trebil may be on the way out and that Hengen is taking over. If true, I would guess that Trebil's staff would likely leave too so more changes could be coming. My understanding is that his health hasn't gotten any worse but that this was just a decision by the A.D.. Trebil was a great coach and this could be a major blow to their overall program.in the zone wrote:Just heard that former AHA player Billy Hengen is going to the associate head coach for Holy Angels boy's hockey team this year
Or a boost for it. Trebil is a good coach, no past tense needed. Hengen was picked for a reason and I am sure that the team will continue to be solid. One must wait and see and not jump to any conclusions.seek & destroy wrote:Rumor I heard is that Trebil may be on the way out and that Hengen is taking over. If it is true, I will be sad to see him go. I have been at the rink since he started there, but I am not going anywhere.
