Yes, I heard Warroad may be decent.
DL, huh?
That would be good to see.
Anyone know anything about Little Falls or Duluth Lakers?

Lakers are now known as Denfeld. They don't have a Bantam A team this year, only B1 and B2.

Detroit Lakes beat Brainerd 5-1 last weekend. They have good goaltending and a couple real good forwards. I don't consider them a top team but they should hold their own. We will find out a lot about them this weekend as they play both Moorhead and EGF.

btw..Moorhead and EGF play tomorrow.

The only result I know for Little Falls is that they lost to St Cloud 11-1.

The Bemidji Bantam A tournament is this weekend. Nice looking tourney with a good balance of teams. On paper, Warroad, Prior Lake and Bemidji look to be the favorites. The way the pools and brackets are set up, Warroad and Prior Lake could play in a semifinal. If that scenario plays out, the winner should take the tourney as well. Picking Warroad.

I predict that Prior Lake and Warroad both have a fairly easy time with the field and Prior Lake wins it with little trouble. I am having a hard time picking anyone else that competes for the championship.

I do not think that Duluth East will be the top team out of the north by the end of the year.

The whole Bantam situation in Duluth is a mess this year with most of the 2nd year kids making the jump to Marshall and Denfeld. Both Denfeld and East were gutted of much of the top 2nd year talent, and Denfeld (formerly Lakers) is not even fielding an A team at the Bantam level this year.

As for the Bemidji tournament, I think barring a major upset, Prior Lake should be the favorite to take it. 2nd through 4th place could break any number of ways. Should be an interesting weekend.

Wrong. East lost one returning D man to East high school and had the benefit of all the former Laker returners being able to try out for East. One made it.

Right. There is no Laker A team. They had no shortage of kids to choose from at East.

Next year at least 3 of the Duluth Bantam A top 5 will be attending Marshall

Agreed. PL should win it.

I will have to disagree. I think DE is a better team then most people think. I think you'll see that team in the mix at the end of the year and not just up north. If nothing else, I think they will be a team that no other team wants to face when their season is on the line. Give them time...its still only November!

Glad to see that Warroad is a factor again! Is this team made up of all home grown talent?

I watched the first period and part of the second. It was good back and forth classic northern hockey vs metro hockey, imo. The Warroad goalie played very well the first period and they got some good bounces in front of the net. I didn't think Warroad would be able to hang in there til the end with only 6 forwards and 4 d versus three solid lines of PL but they played tough and gritted out the win. Good to see a northern team win over a top ranked "state/metro" team. #2 PL was the best player I saw in this tourney. WAR has a few players moving to the area from Fort, Rainy, Duluth and Iowa the past two years. I would put Warroad and East Grand at the top of Northern teams. Should be a good game when these two play.

Championship

Sartell 5

Warroad 2

Sartell wasn't a flashy team but the games I watched them play they ran a nice forecheck and had solid, consisten blueliners. I don't think Bemidji had more than three quality shots the final two periods in the game earlier today.

Congrats Sartell.
