lets see what percentage of the team is MN born....then we can continue.BBB wrote:Per capita? That's how were gauging it now?
It looks like New Hampshire dominates, per capita. NY and Illinois are not what many would consider hockey states in relation to Minnesota.
I am suprised Michigan or Mass wasn't up there.

First of all, I think the NTDP picks some players that are more likely to accept an invitation if they are offered a spot on the team. Obviously MN kids have shown more of a likelihood to say "no thanks" over the years. I think if they did this camp based purely on ability, there would be a few more MN kids involved and a few less kids from some other locales.BBB wrote:Per capita? That's how were gauging it now?

Second, Illinois and NY may not appear to be "hockey states" but the last numbers I saw showed that NY is 4th and Illinois is 5th in the number of NCAA players from their state (behind MN, Mich., and Mass.).
Third, you can still provide a number of high end players but not be as deep as MN is. Some of these places certainly don't have the local depth but they do develop some good players.

Mackjogger, are there any stats that tell how many kids play hockey in each state/province? Might be a better gauge of who's doing well. Say like Bantams and under?mackjogger wrote:State Population Ranking Populationmulefarm wrote:Not to be negative, but having 1 more player than ILL or NY isn't something to really boast about.O-townClown wrote:Interesting to see that one of the Illinois players attends Notre Dame in Saskatchewan.
