Is MNH set to change Regional format?
YHH has learned of a change to this year's Regional format. One that would affect 3-4 teams in each region.

Then they are not reading their emails.Deep Breath wrote:elliot: is this supposed to be kept quiet until something is decided? Only reason I ask is that I have spoken with 3 district directors this morning along with a couple of Region directors and they have all said they have heard nothing about this. Thanks.
Most everyone I know MH board, coaches, tournament directors are aware of this.
So, no, it is not being kept quiet.
Both maroon and gold VP's are well aware.
DD's, I can think of at least 3 that have not voiced an opinion.
So, that might be the case for them.

Mark,
Can you establish when and if a decision will be made on this?
The DOCUMENTED information I have makes it look clear that a decision will be made (and obviously will be made soon)..but isn't clear when they will get the necessary votes to do it.
My opinion is that the change is not drastic, but it is very important to about 10-15 teams out there wondering. The sooner they know the better.

1. WBL (C1) vs. Minnetonka (A3)
2. Edina (A1) vs. Lakeville North (B3)
3. Lakeville South (B1) vs. Stilwater (C2)
4. Eden Prairie (A2) vs. Eastview (B2)
Commentary: Won’t be hearing many gripes from Edina or Apple Valley. Not sure Lakeville North likes how this “new” scenario plays out."
Why the apple valley reference ? guessing you meant Eastview ? "YHH caught this error when several readers brought it to our attention." and how did you catch an error that was pointed out by your readers ?
There are other examples that are confusing ... You may want to spend more time proof reading.

The method of action is now being debated.YouthHockeyHub wrote:Mark,

I think a decision will be made to make the change and go forward (or not) by noon.
If it goes the other way it will be voted on tonight.
The discussion has been with and without merit all morning (IMHO).
That is being discussed.BadgerBob82 wrote:Elliot: Why would a special board meeting be needed to correct an ERROR?
Would almost seem like it is not considered an error in the Board's mind?
Some believe it is not an error (tournament committee said it was).
Some are saying that it does not matter, it is in the handbook and needs a special meeting.
Hopefully, those with power will decide how to proceed and we will (either way), hopefully.

Eastview High School is in AV and the players who play for EV likely live there. It is not a city...it was a subtlety. Sorry you missed it.

Yes.Deep Breath wrote:No more an error that what could take place in the 3rd place game of D6, with the winner staying in the East Region and loser going to the South? Bit of an advantage to say the least with playing in the South compared to East Regions, if competing in the State Tournament is the end goal.

Same situation exists in District 10 Bantam AA - 3rd place team goes to West (Plymouth) 4th place team goes to South (St. Cloud).BadgerBob82 wrote:3rd place team should have the option of staying in East or moving to South. Or format should have been altered to combine both regions to send top 4 seeds to State.
3rd place team should have option of staying in West or going to South...but that's not how it's set up.

BB - I can assure that is not up for discussion. That horse has been beaten to death. It's not going to be changed now. Obama becoming a Rebublican is sooner to happen than that changing.BadgerBob82 wrote:I agree! #4 seeds should not be rewarded nor should the South region which only has 4 teams. Is MN Hockey Board discussing that fix or no??

Where they go changes every year. Advantage one year and a disadvantage the next. I doubt the goal is to review and make changes every year.3rd place team should have the option of staying in East or moving to South. Or format should have been altered to combine both regions to send top 4 seeds to State.
