Edina - Jefferson goal or no goal?

Post by elliott70 »

Do the still pictures prove it was a goal - not a goal?

Start at picture number 212 - The sequence tells you just how difficult it was to make the call.

To me, in photo 217 it appears as though there is a sliver of white between the puck and the goal line. At the same time though, the puck is on edge so the side of the puck would had not fully crossed. That photo, just by my thought of it crossing but not completely crossing (because it is on its side) is a no goal.

Now, I would say that when he is shown over the puck in photo 221 both his hands are beyond the goal line. Unless he managed to cover the puck with his wrist, it is in the net.

All a judgement call in the moment, it appears as though the ref had a good look at it. I want to side with my fellow goaltenders, but I think it's in...

There is a sliver of white there, but thats one of two skate marks that run diaganol accross the goal line. The puck in that picture, clearly rests on the red goal line just in front of that diaganol skate mark.

I can see how its called a goal, but everything in these pictures says its not. There isn't a single picture that shows its in the net, but many in sequence that show it isn't.

That said, it's not the worst call in the world. I can certainly see how they call that a goal in live action.
