IF there was a one-class tournament

Post by jeffpv »

...who would be in it?
Let's assume that there were no "AA" or "A" sections (so 4A and 4AA combine into one section, for example)...who would be the representatives at state?

Section 1 - Lourdes
Section 2 - Edina
Section 3 - Eastview
Section 4 - Toss-up (STA or Hill); I'd lean STA
Section 5 - Hermantown
Section 6 - Wayzata
Section 7 - East
Section 8 - Toss-up (Moorhead or EGF); I'd lean Moorhead

I'd lean HM and EGF.

But, it would be a great tournament.

4 Hill
8 EGF

Let's make it like most other sports and have 4 classes of 4 teams.

Class AAA
Class AA
Class A
Private

Would still have 16 teams at tourney but in essense 4 champions, are we not the generation of 'give the kids medals'

It's not as simple as combining the current AA and A teams from the same-numbered section, because of the poor overlap and uneven distribution of A/AA programs.

In any redrawn single class map that divides the state into 8 sections (each with 18 or 19 teams), Hermantown would certainly be in the same NE Section 7 as Duluth East. Doubtful that SW Section 2 would reach as far as Edina, and there's a fair chance that Eastview would be in SE Section 1 (if they really do start at the corners of the state and work towards the Metro).

Almosthappy is correct. Section 8 would have teams from 8 AA, 8 a, and 6 a. Some 8 AA teams would probly go section6 or metro, some 6 a teams would go section 6. You gotta get back to just before a and AA, then figure it out. EGF I believe would take A. I almost can think DE would take 7. The thing to think about though: what if DE was definitely the favorite, but say Hermantown had their number head to head. Think of the teams a given champ would have to play instead of who they did.

One class tourney was held just after Christmas at Ridder. HM won in a shoot out.

Ogee, why does the south get stuck with St Cloud?
