On to next year
When do we start the threads for section seeds for next season and who should be seeded where?
New section assignments are on the MSHSL website.

Why wait
I just left the xcel and if they replayed this tournament tomorrow I would come to every game. Can not wait to drop the puck on the 2013-2014 season. Anyone want to start our countdown. I am too tired and have had too many adult beverages to do the math.

I'm glad it's ending. Life can return for me.

I can splash in the rink puddles!

Hopefully next years Tournament will be better. This years Tourney was very boring. Off the ice the fans were too busy playing on their phones to cheer and when they did cheer it was unoriginal. The student sections were spread throughout the X. Did Moorhead even have a student section? Centennial fans were obnoxious and lewd. On the ice the play was mediocre at best. Definitely not championship caliber. Parity maybe? Didn't see any talent jumping to D1 from this Tourney. The best game was the Hermantown/Breck game. The Hermantown/STA game was the best up to the last 2 minutes. The refs ruined that one. My 34th Tourney will go down as one of my least favorites.

Yes. Before anybody freaks out i don't know Edina's players well enough to speak to that, except for the Walker's..but Hill would have been a much better team with Guentzel and Heinrich. In a game with TV time-outs two players can have a big impact.

Edina has 4 players themselves (Reno to RPI, Nelson to Princeton, Hurley to Notre Dame & Malmquist has had Jerry York fly out to watch him in person)ShootNScore88 wrote:Didn't see any talent jumping to D1 from this Tourney.
If I had to take an educated guess, I think you'll see Frytag & Zimmer from Wayzata playing D-I someday.
Tommy Novak from STA will be playing D-I.
How this tournament can rank behind last years is a joke. You had two one goal semifinal games in which the victor was trailing entering the 3rd period, a pretty well played championship game in AA, a nice last quarterfinal on Thursday night, and a double OT A semifinal, not to mention the controversy in the A final. There's definitely been wilder tournaments, but there's been a lot more less memorable tournaments.

Am I missing something with the end of the STA/Herm game? Hermantown player pulls a STA player down with the puck, gets a well deserved (albeit very stupid) penalty.pekyman wrote:
Because as with Sta, Breck will not be able to win it without getting help from the refs.
During ensuing power play two players fighting for position to get the puck, Hermantown player skating hard and low to puck gets tangled up, ends up in a headlock that is released almost immediately. A ticky-tack penalty call at best. And Hermantown was somehow slighted, I don't see it.
I hate the private schools in A as much as anyone. Grew up playing up north in a small school. But to say the refs cost Hermantown that game doesn't make any sense to me.

I'd say you're missing that the headlock probably should have resulted in a holding penalty. You may see it as ticky-tack, but considering the situation, anything considered close to a penalty to the team on a PP usually gets called.
However, I do agree in saying that they didn't cost the game. Hermantown blew a 2 goal lead. That wasn't the refs doing. Even if a penalty was called in the last minute of regulation, my money would have been on STA to win in OT.

It wasn't the only reason H-Town lost. The way they were playing, I think STA probably wins in OT anyways, but it was touchy call with 1:57 to go followed by a bad no-call seconds before the game winner. That seems to be the consensus among neutral fans, such as myself.
I also saw plenty of D-1 potential. Lavalle from Hill and Moore from DE in addition to those already listed. Also impressed with the Gorowsky kids from Centennial although they are kind of small for the next level.
