Only computation that matters is March 9th, 2013 at 10:00pm......
1 Edina
2 All the rest
To the victor goes the spoils. Everyone else can say would have, should have, beat them earlier etc. When it mattered most the best TEAM won. HM was inconsistent all year and fell short. Only had a number of players that you could count on showing up and playing hard EVERY night. You don't always have to score and put points up but you have to compete. Edina just kept coming line after line all night long, all tournament long.

Based on a few games I saw there were several players that I thought were extremely inconsistent. Efforts sometimes varied from shift to shift let alone game to game.... Others were inconsistent in team play and moving the puck at times.
I did not see every game, maybe just the right or wrong ones depending on which way you look at it. Just an observation from what I saw at the games I made it to.

I personally thought this team, from a 30,000 foot view, was one of the more consistent HM teams I've watched in several years. They established their lines pretty early in the year (all things considered and with the addition of the Slatt-man from SSM) got consistent goaltending, and really didn't have the traditional HM 'poor' start to the season where it takes them 6 or 8 games to settle in.BogeyMan wrote:"HM was inconsistent? But I understand what you mean from shift to shift; certainly there were some games this year against less-talented teams where the effort wasn't there. The Mahtomedi game comes to mind. I think they were down 0-2 and 1-3 before getting serious and ripping off some lamp lighters for an 8-4 victory.
You're spot on that the final computer rankings mean nothing. The trophy rightfully belongs to Edina. They outplayed HM for long stretches in the championship games and had some terrific passing displays.

The season long ranking did a pretty good job of picking the top 5.
State AA champ, , State AA 2nd, 3rd & 4th, State A champ(I know, I know)
