A ton of talent on the ice. Roughly about 30 skaters and 5 goalies...

All were invited back to second round tonight.

Did they take any additional players than the 2003 Blades?

From the NAHC website listed under Team Minnesota Brick... Although not an official communication, I would suspect this is the roster.

4 Evan Pahos
6 Brady Burton
8 Jackson Blake
9 Carter Batchelder
11 Chaz C.H. Lucius
12 Cruz C.E. Lucius
16 Luke Mittelstadt
18 Damon Furuseth
19 Nicholas Blood
22 Jack Harvey
24 Jack Peart
25 Maxwell Burkholder
26 Brandon Reller
28 Luke Roelofs
1 Matthew Syverson
33 Anton Castro

Congratulations to all the players!!! Good Luck Team Minnesota!!!!

Looks like a great roster of 03's. The boys should have no problem putting the puck in the net, couple of stud d'men plus an outstanding goalie (maybe 2?). However, let's take it easy on the "Team Minnesota" tag. "Team Minnesota" would imply that the best 03's were assembled for the Brick run. The MN Blades organization evaluated, picked and will coach this team. (two are parent coaches) Waiting for the day when the Orange leadership and Blades leadership grow up and allow for the best kids in OUR state showcase their talents at this coveted tourney. Until this day happens let's just call the team what it really is.....Blades + 2. Good luck boys.

The invite should be taken away from the blades and really Minnesota Hockey or the Minnesota Wild or someone with no AAA ties should assemble the team

There are many reasons one club should not have exclusive rights to the Brick. The main one is to field the most competitive team possible. Unfortunately with our summer season basically setting up as our Tier 1 season it will never happen. With the explosion of quality AAA programs there is no incentive for any of these clubs to release their players mid-season for for one tournament, no matter what banner the Brick club falls under. This being the case there will never be a true Team Minnesota to represent at the Brick.

How about holding a mini-tournament in May to determine which team qualifies to go to Brick? At least then we'd know the best team is representing MN.

Kinda like the teams they face aren't really a true Team Anything at the Brick?

Seems like the process to field the entry for the Minnesota team is fine.

I would agree it's a mute point, with our current setup. If you are suggesting we couldn't field a team with an opportunity to compete for a championship, you are wrong. When was the last time the Blades won the Brick? I get the whole great experience for all involved. But it would be nice to field a team that has a shot at the title, especially with the costs involved. I will be rooting for them, the Internet feed was great last year and I thought the team represented well.

The process has to be fine because the blades organization has 100% control, it aint changin. In any brick year next to impossible to get the best players for a number of reasons (baseball/lax, I would say soccer but it is not a sport :), COST, Orange, parent coaches ect..) Making the team vs. actual playing time is another huge factor, just another major detractor of a non-blade looking to join the team. Over the years there have been horror stories over playing time at this tourney. Most coaches do a pretty good job of explaining the potential of a short bench. The rub is that most parents think their kids are the next coming and don't think it will happen to their son. Once you are in Edmonton and find out it IS your kid it's too late. Essentially you just paid thousands to watch your kid watch him teammates. Would a non-blade family(aka outsider) risk this happening to them with 2 parent coaches? The lure of the brick has seduced enough 03 talent away from their 2012 AAA teams. They have assembled a darn good roster. Just quit passing yourself off as Team Minnesota.

I don't know why so many care what the team is named. If the team is called Team Minnesota who cares? The Minnesota Blades don't represent "Minnesota", the Minnesota Machine don't represent "Minnesota", yet they use Minnesota in their name everyday, so why should a bunch of adults care what the name of a team is for a 10 year old hockey tournament. My concern for the 2013 tournament is that I hope this year's team wears the same cool uniforms as last years team. Team Minnesota, er I mean the Blades, should wear those uniforms all the time.

tournament starts today, GOOD LUCK to the Boys from Minnesota!!!

Any predictions?

Team Alberta is the strongest of the teams I have seen, but many, many teams I have not seen. Toronto teams are always a favorite.

Just watched a couple mins of video. The lighting in that rink is just terrible. Hopefully it is better in person.

I would say it's equally odd for an adult to care what uniforms a bunch of 10 year old kids where as it is to care about the team name.
