" Oddly, host Eagan was not entered."

It's not so odd once you realize that Eagan High School was not the tournament host. This was Eastview's tournament, organized and run by the Eastview boosters. Eagan's tournament was the week before.

They hold this tournament at the Eagan Civic Arena because the City of Eastview is too cheap to build their own rink.

Since "Eastview" is not a city, but a High School, I would venture to guess they used Eagan not because they are too cheap to build their own rink, but because Apple Valley's rinks or Rosemount's rink either did not have ice in at this time, could/would not give up the block of ice time for a tournament, or Eagan was a better financial deal for ice time.

Huh, the things you can learn on this forum....

There is a lot of history over forced/enforced shared rink use in Eagan and Apple Valley. Although the bitterness over who gets what number of hours when (and at what price) has softened a bit over the years...at least at Eagan's rink. We're now more likely to commiserate with each other over the wasted prime time ice that the City continues to give to the figure skaters.

Just another reason to be envious of Edina, I guess. :)

You know Edina is in a battle with the figure skaters right now, right?

Although the hockey association has the upper hand in this one.
