MN HOCKEY HUB
The Minnesota Hockey Hub has gone through some changes and wanted to get a sense as to who likes better now OR wishes it would go back to the way it was.

The thing I like most about it now is that when you click on a result it goes right to the box score, skipping the silly graphics page that first appeared last season.
The thing I like least about it now is that they dropped the records and stats for past seasons. This seems to only affect the girls Hub and I understand they are working on it to restore this information. But it's been over a month now and for the most part the prior info is still not showing up.

Sections
The only addition they need to add is the Section Standings. They have everything else. It would just be nice to see the Section line ups with the results. People do like to see this. Thanks
Skipper

Section Standings don't make sense though, especially in 7AA where teams don't play the same opponents or number of section opponents. Now, having a section rankings makes more sense where you rank each section based on how you think the coaches would vote at the end of the season.

Two weeks into the season, and no spotlight games. HubTV and "The Full Nelson" sections last updated in March. It's gone from creating content to aggregating content created elsewhere. Real shame that it looks like the old business model wasn't viable (despite the fact that I gave them two or three thousand of my "eye balls" over the last few years).OTB987 wrote:The Minnesota Hockey Hub has gone through some changes and wanted to get a sense as to who likes better now OR wishes it would go back to the way it was.
But maybe I'm writing the obituary too soon? Please, Loren...tell us that the old hub isn't dead, and that it's just resting (or even pining for the fjords).

Pointless redesign hiding the discontinuation of original content. Cool to have direct access to the other hub sites, though, I like that.
And who knew they were commissioning so many original stories over at the Coach's Association? Good stuff over there, I can just bookmark it directly.
Except for some minor navigational improvements, my vote is definitely no. And I suspect it's directly connected to le$$ commitment from the owner$.
Loren, say it ain't so???

It's terrible. Poor content compared to last year and I don't need to see stories featured from back in June. The bar for scores at the top still is flawed skipping over a game on the far end of the banner when you click to scroll left or right. Finally the data is often delayed or flat out wrong. Remember the Blaine v Roseau score being doubled and I've also seen a couple of power plays in a game being above 100% (team was 3 for 2 on the PP). Hopefully they get this figured out.

Not to mention Edina's five shorthanded goals in one game.Nuts&Bolts wrote:It's terrible. Poor content compared to last year and I don't need to see stories featured from back in June. This. I can look at local content on their respective sites without the use of the Hockey Hub. I'm looking for original content that can't be found elsewhere. I really enjoyed reading game recaps and video, now it's to the point that I'll just look at scores and leave the website.almostashappy wrote:It's gone from creating content to aggregating content created elsewhere.

On a somewhat different note; Maybe it's just my computer(s) but it seems like a very slow-to-load webpage. Sometimes it doesn't even finish loading...just kinda freezes. Seeing that this happens on multiple diffferent computers I was thinking the webpage was just memory-heavy.

Talk to your team representatives. Your team's coaches and helpers are the ones responsible for accurate entry. The StarTribune only supplies the platform.Nice job from the largest news media outlet in the state of hockey.
I agree that the old site was better designed and only needed a few tweaks instead of a total redo.

Anything run by "Red Star" Tribune involving hockey is half baked effort. The old site really drove quality standards for coverage and made high school hockey exciting to follow. It was excellent, any and all teams one was interested in could be accessed. The boys knocked it out of the park and the replacement is pure second rate. I guess the saying "you get what you paid for" applies. Advertising dollars that can support the effort come and go, to our collective loss of a great site.
