Hill-Murray Vs Mahtomedi

Post by green4 »

According to the Hub this game is tied up at 3 and heading to overtime.

Anyone know if this is true or what the story is behind this game?

A fun game to watch. Slattery skated through pretty much the entire Zephyr roster to score his first goal. A Maht penalty put HM on the power play shortly after that and it was like watching sharks circling. So many good chances - the ice tilted early in HM's favor, but they didn't get another goal.

A boarding call on HM gave the Zephs life and they eventually cashed in on the 5 min PP. They traded penalties the rest of the period and Maht was able to score again (I think 4-on-4). In the second, Maht took a couple retaliation penalties (the refs always get the second guy) and HM made 'em pay with two PP goals. Maht had a goal waived off in the second. Wasn't sure if the net was off or if the ref called a man in the crease. Questionable call if you're a Zephyr fan.

The third period was back and forth after Maht tied it. The Zeph defense did just enough to get sticks in the way to deflect shots. HM had more rushes, but Maht had several good chances also. In OT, Campbell had a chance for the hattie, but the puck rolled on on him and he fluttered a shot just over the net. HM scored a shift or two later on a clean shot from the point.
