Duluth East - White Bear Lake

I seem to recall a yearly game between Duluth East and White Bear Lake (at least the past four years). Does anyone know why these two aren't playing each other this year?

According to a reliable source, WBL informed East that they were dropping the Hounds, and offered no explanation.

I guess they were super excited to add Hopkins to their non-conference schedule...

Was it Grand Rapids that replaced East on White Bear Lake's schedule?

I was bummed to see that too. It's usually a good test for the Bears even though they've come out on the wrong end most of the time.

One thing I heard was East wanted the game to be on a Tuesday night in Duluth and Sager didn't want that so he just dropped them. It was always fun to play East

How does high school hockey scheduling work? Are the coaches in charge of it? I assume it's different for every school, so this may not really be a very answerable question. But does it work like college football where they contract a certain number of games alternating venues?

They also added Hermantown to their schedule. Friday 1/24 @ Hermantown.
