I put this in the scores thread, but I'll re-post it here now that this game has its own thread:
The first period easily ranked among the worst periods I have ever seen an East team play. They gave up one goal less than 30 seconds in, and a shorty near the end. Howg was not on, they were out-hit and out-hustled, lost a defenseman to an injury, and the offense involved Phil Beaulieu trying to skate through three people. (To his credit, he did create the few half-chances they had that period.)
The second and third periods were an entirely different story. Hedin came in and made one huge save early on. They went to work, controlled play, and battled back. After it got to 3-2, they had some tantalizing chances to tie it up, including Marinac hitting a pipe with less than ten seconds left. They just dug themselves into too deep of a hole in the first. The power play needs some work (seems weird to say that about an East team), and they also took a stupid retaliation penalty with a few minutes left that neutralized a Centennial penalty for a shot after the whistle. Ah, the delights of watching a young and inexperienced team.
Credit Centennial for really coming to play in the first, and making a few adjustments that did just enough to disrupt East's comeback in the 2nd and 3rd. Gorowsky was a force on the first two goals. They're not a great team, but they're reasonably deep, and if a quality opponent gives them an opening, they're more than capable of grabbing it.
