Definitely well coached. Have a 1st line that can play with anyone in the state, and a solid 2nd and 3rd line. 3 dmen who are very good and a freshman goalie who will likely be playing a very high level of hockey someday. Taking nothing away from north, but hill was very flat, although north did an. Excellent job of isolating (and in the process) frustrating Slattery and Anderson. I think North is a legitimate top 5-7 team in AA.

Don't inflate goalie anymore than mom already has. Good but not great.

North was able shut down Hill's top players by playing a very solid, physical game. It appeared that Hill did look a little flat, but the difference in this game was that North was able to capitalize on their opportunities. Any ideas on what North will be ranked going forward?

Never said great pal. Call it how i see it. A freshman shutting out EP and Hill in a week while most goalies his age are playing bantams is pretty impressive.

The kid is playing great so let his mom be proud and tell the world. She deserves to she's a goalie mom for God's sake. She has earned the right to be proud. As we know, the goalie position is very fickle see the ride Chase Perry had, so enjoy it the limelight while you can. Congrats Freshman Keeper! Two shutouts against top teams! GB

Just an interesting note, according to the Hill-Murray hockey website, last night was the first time the Pioneers were shut out since Jan. 20, 2007 against Holy Angels, also 3-0.

I do not mean to pigeon hole all Lakeville North fans, but some of you are simply pieces of work. You finally have a good thing going and you still find something to go all negative on.

For starters,Stat81 I'm not your pal, don't even know you! Secondly I do know the head coach very well and couldn't be happier for him and the North boys! That was more of a shot at a way over the top hockey parent, and yes they are everywhere. Call it like I see it.

Winning does not necessarily equate with a happy team or parents (if that matters :)). Am sure the Farmington team is not very pleased with seeing "their" goaltender play for North and am also sure the two other goaltenders from last year and their families are not to pleased. Its a difficult balance, ie winning at all costs vs being loyal to the players/families who have grown up supporting the local youth associations. Rolling 2 lines may indeed win a lot of games........ other teams have proven this but when tourney time comes around, gosh it seems the whole team needs to be actively involved to win. Also an injury could certainly throw a wrench into the gears but you can't plan for that to happen. North has beaten some very good teams so far. Still a long way to go till Sections........Good luck to the Panthers!

For what it's worth, North's coach put his senior captain goalie back in between the pipes last night against Eagan. Gutsy move...can you imagine the howls if the Cats had put more than the two on the board and won that (winnable) game?

As for a new guy coming in through open enrollment/transfer and "taking" a spot that "should" have gone to a Senior goalie that grew up in the local youth organization...right or wrong, it happens all the time. And in this case, we're probably talking about a goalie slot on North's roster that was only in play because Lindgren open enrolled to Eagan. Karma, goes around-comes around, and all that.

North Goalie

Post by Skatesharpener »

For the record...the freshmen didn't have to open enroll...his Dad lives in North territory. He's played with the same boys for the last 5 summers and from what I heard - the decision was his. Better competition = better Goalie.

And didn't the senior goalie transfer in last year?

NAHC you speak from personal experience as you were never happy regardless of how your son's team was doing.

was at the game last night and coaches ran 3 lines + the entire game, and playing 8 different d'men so when you say rolling 2 lines can win game this doesn't apply here

Presuming 3+ lines means LN played a 4th line and they had 8D dressed which is questionable in itself wouldn't this be 22 people on the bench? Maybe some funny math now taking place in Lakeville or simply storytelling to paint a different picture. Looks like LN ranks up there with the recruiting classes of some of the privates this year. At least section 1 has a chance of bringing a real contender this year. :D :D

If "3+" lines means 3 full lines plus 1 skater, the math would work.

It was a very crowded visitor's bench last night, and there were a handful of LN players that sat outside of the locker room in between periods. Maybe there wasn't enough room inside?

min-091: Don't have nor have had a skater in the association so don't have first hand knowledge of the team. I keep up with the blogs and certainly this type of situation has occurred with other teams. Not sure why you are so sensative to a pretty neutral post........ Was GREAT to see see that North beat Eagan last night in Eagan. North's Coach deserves a pat on the back for starting his senior goaltender against the Eagan goaltender who left North for greener pastures in Eagan. Am sure the North goalie was pumped to play in this game!!!!!!!

TOTALLY that this must have been a team win. From the score sheets the score was tied 2-2 before North was able to score the last 2 goals. Very nice win for the surprise team so far in the state. North has beat some very good teams........ :)

Im a little late on this conversation...With all do respect the LN Freshmen goalie is doing a good job, with that said, he was asked to come to Lakeville! As a freshmen in Farmington he would be back-up on Varsity, not bad for a freshmen! But a couple of people here in lakeville sweetened the pot and guaranteed him the JV/Varsity spot, kinda hard to pass up, and he NEVER tried out for Bantams, that is completely wrong, and unfair to all the kids who are in lakeville association. Some people will do anything to make sure they have the team they want. As for the Eagan goal tender, he left simply because he didnt want to be apart of the crap here, and just wanted to play hockey, he especially wanted to get away from certain kids on the team. He didn't care who was coming in to coach, he just wanted out!

So its ok for one kid to go take a spot away from another kid in Eagan, but its not ok to do the same thing in Lakeville?

Deals and winks all around whether it was LN to Eagan a couple of years ago or the recent Farmington to LN pick up. Another move overlooked is the coaching addition to LN from LS bringing his kid along to the LN varsity and buddy from Farmington. A good recruiting year for LN and we won't be hearing much from LS for several years.
