I think your right....

In a joint press release the Anoka-Hennepin, Minneapolis and St. Paul school districts announced that all three will cancel class for a second consecutive day Tuesday, due to frigid temps and wind chills. The National Weather Service calls for a high of -1 degrees Tuesday, with wind chills approaching -35.
FULL LIST OF SCHOOL CLOSINGS
Others, like Columbia Heights, Edina, Forest Lake, Fridley, Hopkins, Lakeville, Minnetonka, Robbinsdale, Roseville and Wayzata quickly followed suit, many with associated activities and programs also canceled. As temperatures will be rising slightly as the day goes along some districts are waiting to make a decision on sports games and practices, and other nighttime activities. Consult your district's website for details.

District196 schools are closed tomorrow, but after-school and evening games/practices/activities (e.g. Lakeville North vs Eagan, Eastview vs Rosemount) are still on. Website notes (correctly) that temps are suppose to increase rather significantly tomorrow afternoon.Slammer wrote:I'm guessing most of these will be cancelled due to school closings.

We've been told that if school is closed games HAVE to be rescheduled. Practice is coach's call.almostashappy wrote:District196 schools are closed tomorrow, but after-school and evening games/practices/activities (e.g. Lakeville North vs Eagan, Eastview vs Rosemount) are still on. Your mileage may vary in other school districts, but for Apple Valley, Eastview, Eagan and Rosemount.......Nevertoomuchhockey wrote:We've been told that if school is closed games HAVE to be rescheduled. School will be canceled on Tuesday, January 7, due to the dangerously cold temperatures that are forecasted to continue through Tuesday morning. The only activities that will be held on January 7 are high school after-school and evening activities, and Community Education evening activities. These activities will be held as scheduled because temperatures are forecasted to increase significantly by Tuesday afternoon.

I am aware that all a kid has to do is attend half a school day and he is elgible to participate. If he is absent the entire day, he cant play, but if he shows up a couple hours late, he can still play.Nevertoomuchhockey wrote:Must be a school policy then.
We also have a policy that if a kid is late or absent from school they can't participate in ex-curr that day.
I thought that was a wide spread rule? Maybe some are more strict and enforce their own rules.

That is a MSHSL rule, not school rules. However, the rules would clearly have to be different when there is no school. If they weren't there could be no holiday or Saturday games, for example.InYourFace09 wrote:I am aware that all a kid has to do is attend half a school day and he is elgible to participate. Hub shot totals don't mesh with (a) reality and (b) what was posted up on the scoreboard last night. North had more than 3 shots in the 3rd for sure (although I didn't see final shot totals for the game). Last goal was not an empty netter.Traxler wrote:Was anyone at the Lakeville North - Eagan game last night? The Hub (which I don't really trust) indicates that Lakeville North scored twice on only 3 shots in the 3rd period. Is that right? Was their 4th goal an empty netter?
Thanks. I know, I hate to rely on the hub. Could you provide me with a short recap of the game? I'm curious whether North seemed to be much better than Eagan or whether it was a competitive game.almostashappy wrote:Hub shot totals don't mesh with (a) reality and (b) what was posted up on the scoreboard last night. It was a competitive game, but not a very pretty one. The Little Chipper game in between 1st and 2nd periods was more interesting than the first two periods of play. Both teams seemed flat...maybe related to two straight days off the ice beforehand?
North was good, but it wasn't like they dominated. No odd-man rushes...their first two goals were from up high and through traffic; don't think that Lindgren got good looks at either one. Leaned a lot on top line, and forwards aren't all that big. Eagan dished out some huge hits...if I was a LN fan, I'd be concerned whether the young guns will be beat up and worn out by the time that Sections come around.
Thanks a lot for the summary.almostashappy wrote:Traxler wrote: Thanks. I know, I hate to rely on the hub. Could you provide me with a short recap of the game? I'm curious whether North seemed to be much better than Eagan or whether it was a competitive game.
