I see Wayzata taking this section and have a hard time believing anyone beats them at this point. EP, BSM both definitely have talent to pull it off but I don't see it happening.

Anyone know the last time Tonka didn't have a home ice game? 8-0 in the Lake and 1st to 0-8 and 6th. Yikes.

Last time Tonka didn't host goes back to 04-05 season when they were the 6 seed and played Ep per Minnhock archives.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I heard today that there will be ZERO video streaming allowed for Section 6AA games - per Section 6AA...

If so, How come that is?

Hmmm, I know EP streamed every game during the season, and BSM most, would be interesting if the section doesn't allow them. Possibly to maximize attendance at semi-finals and final?

I can see that. I just checked PSB Media and they don't have anything on the schedule - I know they do alot of EP, Hopkins, Tonka, BSM games:

http://www.psbmn.com/

Prep45/MN Hockey Center - No schedule games

MSBN.com - no Schedule either

Checked a few other places...No scheduled games. I will be going, but I guess they are locking down the video streaming.

MSBN will be covering 6AA section semi's and finals. Audio coverage as per years past.

Channel 45's broadcast deal with MSHSL not only gives them exclusive rights to broadcast/webstream state tournament games in any and every sport...it blocks the live video broadcast or webstream of any section game in any sport if they're broadcasting/webstreaming an event at the same time.

They don't want people watching a webstream of a boys section hockey game when they could (theoretically) be watching the girls state hockey tournament games. But it applies to any MSHSL-sanctioned sport...prep45.com could be webstreaming the state high school robotics team championship and that'd be enough to block a live stream of a boys sectional game.

Here's a link to the MSHSL media policy manual that spells this all out in gory detail: http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/publications ... Manual.pdf

Yep. And in team defense overall. Easy semi win for Wayzata whomever they get.

Disagree. I think BSM Wayzata would be a very good game. Great defense against a great offense.

Kind of like an easy win for Canada over Latvia? Odds are in favor of Wayzata but nothing is easy in Sectionals.

You never know what will happen in sectionals. A few years back a great EP team's season ended when they lost to a hot goalie from Armstrong.

Looking at a few of the comments about the BSM team, i wouild tend to disagree a little. Goaltending has not been the main issue this year (no, i am not a BSM goalie dad). Allowing a half-dozen or more odd-man rushes has been the problem. The team doesn't get the puck deep on a consistent basis and it leads to turnovers at the blueline. Now both goalies who have seen the majority of the minutes have allowed soft goals, no question about it. But, so has every other goalie in the state that has played serious varsity minutes. But, excactly how man 2on1s are you expecting a goalie to stop? Wayzata looks like the clear favorite in 6AA, but EP, HFC and BSM have all been involved in a 1-goal game with the Trojans this season. Won't be surprised if Wayzata makes it to St. Paul but it won't be a monumental upset if one of the next three seeds does either.

I would agree with this.....Benilde needs to know they are not going score many goals against them, so they better come in with the defense first approach and hope Wayzata makes a few mistakes that they can capitalize on.......

I have seen BSM play a half dozen times this year. They are somewhat of an enigma, but there is enough there to get to St. Paul....if the stars align.

BSM sends 4 and sometimes five players on offensive rushes leading to an abundance of breakaways or odd mans. I don't think the talent is deep enough to make it through playoffs with opponents that transition quickly to take advantage of this.

Their defense are taught to throw passes across the defensive zone (often blind) for a quick transition to the wide wing. A team that sets a man mid to high slot will get one or two really good scoring chances in a game by intercepting and walking down the slot.

BSMs forwards don't seem to have enough passion to get back to the zone and play gritty defense - shot blocking by forwards and coming deeper defensively will make a difference. I just don't see this team outrunning their opponents in a run and gun style game.

Goaltending will have to be on and the focus needs to be not on outshooting opponents 2-1, but rather having better shot selection offensively (bad angle and dump ins on goal really do not show dominance) while forcing opponents to have worse shot selections offensively. Sounds like the basics, but not the typical BSM style - but this is not the typical BSM team of the last 4-5 years.

I give 'em a 25% chance to make it to Saint Paul...but if things align, they can get there as there is enough talent there. They were the third or fourth seed in 2012 when they won the title, so they have been here before. Hopkins will be their first hurdle and they better focus on that one.
