District to Region to State...?!?

Post by massalsa »

Ok. Great board...thanks for all the good stuff.

I have been unable to find out how the region component of the state tourney works. It appears that these are the district breakdowns for the Peewee divisions.

Is there no district 1, 7, 13, or 14? My kid plays peewee A and is in district 3. It appears as if they go to St. Cloud to play D4 & D5. It appears as if there is no D4 Peewee A? What happens then? It is my understanding that top 3 move out of districts to region but then what?

The south bracket (3, 4, & 5) looks like this:

Sorry, confusing to me. Thanks for any help.

There is a District 1 but there are no PWA teams. And, no, D7, 13 and 14 do not exist. See http://www.minnesotahockey.org/page/sho ... sociations

There definitely are PWA teams in D4 (e.g. Luverne). I *think* that D4 and D5 had a combined PWA league this year and presumably teams from that league will fill the five D4 and D5 slots in the South Region.

If you study the regional bracket, you will conclude that two teams advance to the state tournament-- the champion and the winner of the back door. This is true of all four regions. The state tournament is a straight-8 bracket.

Good luck.
