Fist Pump

Post by RickyTicky »

I noticed last year and now almost every goal this year in the tourney.. what is with the one knee, ice-scraping, enormous uppercutting fist pump these kids do after every goal? Call me old school but what happened to acting like you've scored before? These "look at me!" cellys are getting old and starting to remind me of touchdown dances.

The HS league made this a point of emphasis preseason with the coaches to try and eliminate the individual celebrations. Encouraged them to discourage solo celly's. No penalty involved but put the focus back with your teammates.

Haha.. nothing wrong with a little emotion but when teammates have to wait for you to complete your solo celly to congratulate you it just rubs me the wrong way.

So I'm old school to but let's see something a bit different. How about running on the ice with the stick in the air. And skating to jump at the glass of your fan section is old.

at the state tourney, what's the big deal. It could be the biggest stage these kids will play on in their life. It's not like they dancing around for a few minutes after the goal. A lot of it is emotion.

So far, it doesn't seem as bad as the previous 2-3 years.

Off Topic: Mouth Guards. 50% of these kids are wearing them?

most kids have them on them in their gloves typically and if the reff says something they take them out put them in their mouths for a shift and then right back to the glove. refs get sick of checking. you might get a stickler some games but at state no ref is handing out a misconduct to a kid for no mouth guards. never gonna happen.

It's true, it's getting a little old. I want to see some sick cellies. Where's the parting of the Red Sea?

Emotional responses are fine, if they're genuine; I'm all for it. If you want to script something, pleeeease be creative. Just sayin' . . .
