The Zach Halverson Tourney Recap!

Post by ZachHalverson »

Good morning everyone and welcome to the first annual Zach Halverson Tourney Recap. I have no clue if there will be a second annual, but I figured if there is I will already have a head start!

First of all, I would like to see a change in the censor trigger. Could someone please change it from "PLEASE BAN ME" to "love". It would be adorable and more positivity would be a refreshing change to the forum.

Edina won the whole thing because they have a lot of money and EVERYTHING is handed to them. Heck, the first place medals weren't even handed to the players, they just leaned over and had their servant place them around their necks.

This was a great tournament, though it was still somewhat of a disappointment. With all of the upsets and parity this year, it would have been nice to see a few in the State Tournament but the hockey gods were all like, "NO, we're gonna have every upset happen in the section tournaments because of George W. Bush's failed policies!" or something like that.

The Eden Prairie-Lakeville North game was a freaking classic. It was nice to see double-overtime make a return after it's absence last year, which was the absolute worst tournament in the tourney's history. The Eagles lost, which saved us from an all-mascots-that-fly final. Both teams are also in the Lake Conference, but who cares? It's the transportation method of mascot that really counts.

Thank God for the Xcel Energy Center. With the Let's Play Hockey Expo next door, the 18,000 seats, nice scoreboard, and wonderful media facilities including the largest press box in the NHL, this place is absolutely perfect for this tournament. I honestly can't think of any way it could get any better. This place is awesome.

Finally, I got to meet East (karl) in person this week and it was really nice to put a loving face to the username. Love your website Karl and love you too!

Hope the 8 months or so without high school hockey go well for all of you. This season is far too short and it goes way too fast. It is made better by this place, and I thank you all for an awesome season on the ol' Forum! Oh and love you grandmeadowhockeyfan!

Great week sitting on the blue line on the lower level. Eating more popcorn, pop, and hotdogs than a man should. Nothing beats that week every year. Watching east grand forks win and their sign with small town big dreams was excellent. I feel for Hermantown fans watching another team celebrate a championship for the fifth year in a row. That has to be painful. Then there was watching bleeping, bleeping Edina win another one over the great story of Lakeville North. Then there was the embellishment. Was there a hook or not? Am already anticipating next year and will have my high school hockey addiction bothering me all summer.

And finally was spending time with my son. Makes life worth living. Thanks for the shoutout and hang in there only 359 more days till next tourney everyone.
