This one seems odd to me. I'm sure he has improved a good amount over the summer but wouldn't you want to see him play some games during the season before having him commit? It just seems odd when you look back on his last season.
Hopefully he become another dangerous weapon for the Hornets this year and goes on to have a successful collegiate career.

Well it's St. Lawrence so they kind of have to pull the trigger...

Bohlby Was on My Aug 13 Post as "Remote But Not to Be Ruled Out"
Even so, this happened way earlier than I would have guessed.

Teams With Most D-1 Players

Edina 2013

Six commits

Nanne, Fidler, , Bellows, Zuhlsdorf, Malmquist , Munsen

Three more probable:

Wait, Masterman , Dornbach

Three more possibles:

Mismash , Rohkohl, Pugh

Four more remotes, but not to be ruled out:

Fuss, Bohlby, Foley, Meyer

Potentially sixteen altogether, but certainly a dozen is within reach

I know that Brad Frost at the U has been scouting Grace, who will be a sophomore for the Hornets this season. A assume she is Henry's younger sister?

Committing is not the same as being given a scholarship. Never under estimate the role mommy and daddy's $$$$ plays in many of these so-called commitments. Not saying that is the case here, but it is Edina afterall. Regardless of how a kid gets there, if it gives him a chance to continue chasing the dream, congrats!

If the stats on Hockey Hub are to be believed, he had zero points as a junior after playing JV as a soph. Obviously, scouts aren't completely caught up in stats, but this one is a bit perplexing.

Whether that's true or not, saying that here implies this kid is playing college puck only because he is rich not because he is talented. Undermines his hard work and years of training, not to mention his academic strength. Just don't think it's ok to speculate on the unworthiness of the commit. "Surprised" is saying enough. IMHO.

Thank you for your thoughtful and accurate reply nevertoomuchhockey. It's hard to understand when adults take shots at a 17 year old kid based purely on speculation and assumption. To me comments like stating that it's "daddy's money" without having any first hand knowlege of the kid/situation are a window into the character of the poster.

Bowlby has improved his game and the scouts took notice this summer. Hard work and determination goes a long way. One of top skaters in the state.

Congratulations to Bowlby.
Improved - yes.
One of the best in state - a little early to predict that one.
