Duluth East Schedule 2014-2015

Post by Traxler »

Is there an accurate schedule for East this year? The hockey hub doesn't seem to be accurate to me, there are only 22 games listed and one of them is apparently taking place at Duluth East High School. Have they built a rink at Ordean?

I just realized that the Schwan Cup games aren't listed here. That makes it 25. Feel free to disregard this question.

In general, schools' activities calendars are more accurate than anything that appears on the Hub (especially before the season starts). Here's East's:

If they do have Hill in the Schwan Cup that would be 2 years in a row, but I wouldn't complain--it's great to get in those match-ups with state powers that they don't already have on the schedule (Hill, Edina, STA).

You're both right, but it's the finals they'll meet in, not the opening round.

And I'll bet Karl an order of wings and a pitcher of beer at BWW.

Do you know the Schwan's cup schedule? They still don't have it posted on their site.

If they do meet in the Schwan Cup final, you're on! (At some later date...I'm afraid I'm running away from the frozen tundra that week.) :)

I'd like to see the bracket, too. On a semi-related note, it looks like the St. Louis Park tourney won't be a bracket this season due to a lack of teams?

What is the latest about Randolph calling up Bantams in favor of returning varsity?

Also, what is latest on Marshall kid transfer eligibility?

Howg not having a great Elite Season?

Howg not having a great Elite Season?
Full disclosure, I'm not in Duluth and have not been following as closely as the past two years. That established, here are some answers:

-Last I heard, East is calling up 2-4 freshmen this year. At least two, in my opinion, should be productive high school players. Others might be a reach, but there might be other reasons (ie. families saving money by having younger brothers play JV). It's a mild surprise since East hasn't played many freshmen in recent years (2 in the past 9, I believe), but this class is a very strong one. It's a calculated risk.

-I'm unaware of any questions about Dow's eligibility.

-To be honest, I was surprised Howg made the Elite League to begin with. He became a quality high school goalie over the course of the last season, but I wouldn't put him on the same level as the very best. When he started out he reminded me a lot of JoJo Jeanetta--a reasonably good East goalie now fondly remembered for one great playoff run. The comparison still holds, and Jeanetta didn't play Elite League at all. Long story short: I only think his somewhat choppy Elite League season is a surprise if you had unrealistic expectations for him to begin with. The team in front of him wasn't especially great, either.

Heard Dows hiring attrny to appeal denial of eligibility?

Howg had decent 91% saved last year and decent tourney, admittedly with much better D in front of him. So, he had good pressure test to prepare him for Elite season , had been hoping he would do better.

I may have to consider dropping East from my preseason 10th ranking,
question is who to moveup, maybe EP?
