Feel Good Story - ?

Post by BodyShots »

It's been a roller coaster of emotions for one WBL Senior forward:

This summer he was announced as one of the captains for this years team
The next day his dad finds out he has cancer.
During tryouts, he finds out he has mono.
Monday 11/24, his dad gets to come home and spend Thanksgiving with the family.
It was decided that because of mono, at Saturday's season opener, this player will be introduced with the team and play the first shift only.
Dad can't make it to the game, so he will be watching on "TheHorn".
Friday after Thanksgiving, his dad passes.
Saturday season opener, first shift, he scores 24 seconds into the game!!!!!
WOW

Channel 5 had a feature on the story, including video of the goal, on their 6PM news. They said they would have an expanded version this evening on their 10PM news.

Classy move by Coach Sager and the Bears. The entire team (varsity and JV) attended the funeral and took up one section of the church. Dressed very nicely in their black jersey with ties underneath.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I would think this would just be "standard procedure" if a player on the team had a parent that passed away...

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think that NOT pointing this out and just appreciating the fact that every single one of his teammates showed up and supported Michael through this extremely difficult time would be "standard procedure" when posting on the Forum.
