Remaining Winless Teams

Somebody was bound to start the flip-side thread, so I might as well be humble enough to count up the teams who remain without a win. #-o

Moose Lake and Orono got off the snide with wins on Tuesday night. So by my count, that leaves seven winless teams in the MSHSL right now.

AA - Eagan (0-5), St. Francis (0-6), Park (0-6-1)

A - Fairmont (0-5-1), Austin (0-7-1), Worthington (0-9-1), Red Wing (0-9-1)

The funny thing about the Single A teams is that they all have 1 tie from playing another winless team:
* Fairmont and Worthington tied 4-4 last night. They will try again on Jan 8.
* Austin and Red Wing also kept each other in the no-luck club by skating to a 5-5 tie last week. They have a re-match on Jan 31.

Looking at the AA teams....
* Simply mentioning that Eagan hosts Shakopee tomorrow night isn't enough to jinx anything, right?
* Park skated to a 0-0 tie with Apple Valley last night. Three bracket games in the Rochester Kiwanis tournament should provide at least one favorable match-up.
* Fourteen of St. Francis's nineteen remaining regular season games are against teams that currently have a losing record. They are at Buffalo (3-4) on Thursday.

Mostly beyond a coach's control...higher-than-average SOS with some front-loading (3 of 5 losses to top 15 teams), and a few players recovering from the sit-4-2 flu. It's still really early in the season.

The little guy is a good enough coach to beat Shakopee twice.
Eagan will win one other game as well. Someone in the conference will have a off night.

I don't get your all caps, trout joke. Maybe it's just me, but I am guessing not, it must be funny because you and not Tonight always bring it up. Can you explain it here please. If not, I suggest keeping it on the 3A topic, seems great over there.

Nice to see the little guy get in the W column before 2015!

He's standing tall after a big win. Umm wait a minute. I bet he's almost happy that Jefferson and Kennedy are gone from the conference with Shakopee and Farmington coming in. Instead of l0-3 he can go 2-2.

Red Wing loses 6-7 to Waconia in OT. If there's any consolation the Wingers did win the shot battle, 48-34.

This week’s winless update:

Fairmont got off the snide last week, beating Windom 5-2. Red Wing also won before Christmas, beating Monticello 5-1. Belated congratulations to both teams.

Austin won for the first time last night, beating Pine City/Rush City 10 to 3 in the Waseca Tournament. They play St. Paul Highland in the winners(!) bracket tonight…Go, Pack, Go!

So then there were three…last night’s schedule saw two of winless teams in holiday tournament action.

Park of Cottage Grove 4
Rochester John Marshall 5

Park now has a consolation bracket game against Dodge County this afternoon. Go, (Wolf)Pack, Go!

St. Francis 1
Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl 2

The Fighting Saints could really drop from this list in a big way by beating Grand Rapids tonight. Otherwise, they play Hibbing/Chisholm tomorrow.

Worthington’s next chance to lose the goose egg is on Saturday, when they face Morris/Benson Area ( 2-8 ).

And we're down to two winless teams, with a chance to whittle it down to one before the new year...

Park of Cottage Grove 8
Dodge County 1
- Wolfpack try to make it two in a row against Century this afternoon.

Grand Rapids 5
St. Francis 0
- Saints and Skippers, this afternoon in Hibbing

Austin! Two in a row after a 5-2 win over StP Highland, and in the finals of the Waseca Tournament against the hosts. Go,Pack,Go!
