Re: White Bear Lake vs Greenway and Superior (WI)
The Spartans of Superior Wisconsin play excellent hockey year in and year out. CEC, Duluth East, Hermantown, Duluth Denfeld, Duluth Marshall all play Superior every year. They have great hockey tradition, and a great arena and atmosphere for their high school hockey games. They play everybody tough up here across the bridge in Minnesota.inthetwine wrote:Will the Bears get 2 wins up north?
Have a nice northern swing White Bear Lake Bears! We at CEC sure miss playing you guys every year. It stopped a couple years ago; not sure why. I'm from the cities originally, and White Bear Lake was always my favorite suburb. Good luck boys!!

I was shocked by how this game played out. White Bear was certainly the better team but Greenway made them work for their win. Good goaltending and one of those night where a team (White Bear) seemed unable to complete the play. An example of how it went for White Bear is that they hit the post from inside the circle when the net was empty. Hopefully Greenway will build on this game and continue to reduce its penalties. They totally eliminated the chippiness in this game.

They sure had some nice home cooking in greenway for that game. Nice to see the Bears fight through it and still come out with the win. Gotta love on the goal where they said that it didn't cross the line that the goal judge turned the red light on but as soon as the refs asked him if it was in, he said no. I'm sure that guy is totally unbiased. It wasn't just the goals though, it was the obvious icings that they would wave off or no calls that if the Bears did it, would totally get called. Love that arena though and it was a ton of fun.
Sager moved up AJ Welch to the first line with Giller and Anderson for the Superior game and you could say that it worked out pretty well. Moving Dylan Gast to the 2nd line with Steffen and Pitcher is a great idea imo with how fast Gast is. The Bears took a ton of penalties once again but the PK came up big. Supposedly the shots were 17-14 Bears but the Bears had way more shots than that especially since the Spartans took a lot of penalties in their own right.
It was a fun weekend and it was nice to see the Bears sweep the weekend. Back at it Tuesday night at Centennial
