WHY NOT THE COLISEUM???

Post by nu2hockey »

The season is in the final stretch run with Sections to follow. After HDM, I have been wondering WHY that cooling equipment can't or couldn't be used at the Coliseum?

They set up the entire event in less than 2 weeks , plus, the crowd for Sectionals would be larger.

Does anyone know why it could NOT be used?

The Fair board made the decision to not put anymore money into the ice plant and that was the end of it.

Correct, I am curious why the Fair Board didn't consider the option of a portable system(rental) for the Sectionals..One would assume that if HDM could be profitable then the BOARD would have considered any option that didn't require investing in the ice plant.
They are most definitely attuned to anything that brings cash in..Empty buildings generate expense

HDM has many sponsors, section games are HS events and they want to keep ticket prices down. Is not plausible to rent the ice they used for HDM. We said our goodbyes and put this one to bed last Spring.

What were the costs of renovating & replacing the outdated equipment again? Couldn't we put our efforts endlessly posting shinfo on this message board towards a nice Hippodrome presentation, it's history & importance in February, and bring it to where some $ is? At least in theory, wouldn't our home town hero Zach Parise and any other pro hockey Minnesotans or Wild members be interested donating a few pennies towards that? Would be a good story in the media, current and ex MN pros with a few grand laying around the old bank account, supporting & showing the HS level some love.

It's too bad all section finals can't be in nice arenas like Amsoil Arena or the Sanford Center.
