Tell us about the game if you were there. 5-2 looks pretty dominant but the hub has shots favoring M 31-20? Also did Berger play? Hub says no. Is PL the better team?nahc wrote:Interesting no comments concerning Prior Lakes win over Minnetonka last night....... South Suburban Conference........ toughest league in the State this year?
PL vs. Tonka
PL was the better team.
Berger did not play; the junior did. He is an average back-up goalie. He can make the first save but gives up horrendous rebounds and is slow to recover.
I found it interesting that the Tonka freshman who started the year on the 1st line is now playing on the 4th line. That line didn't play in the 1st period and was scored on at least once if not twice in the 2nd period.
PL is following a similar pattern that has evolved over the past few seasons:
- Tough grind it our team that doesn't score a ton of goals
- By January and into February, their physical play begins to take over and they run off several wins.
PL will be the 2nd seed in Section 2 with no losses in the section: 2 wins over Burnsville, beat Jefferson, beat Shako, and beat Chan

Interesting. I haven't seen Tonka play this year, and I have not been overly impressed with Prior Lake, so to say PL was the better team, doesn't say a whole lot for Tonka and their run.blueblood wrote:PL was the better team.

If PL is fortunate enough to get past Burnsville for a 3rd time, all of that ice at Mariucci against Edina is going to make for a tough game for a grind it out team.

PL was the better team on Tuesday. Overall I think both teams are right about the #10 in state spot.blueblood wrote:PL was the better team.

The freshman was on the first line for a short stint early in the season and has been top three lines all year. He played a regular shift in the first period and the rest of the game on Tuesday.

This was a game I would have like to see, but I've seen them each twice in other matchups.
Tonka enjoyed a very nice run, but I think teams have caught on thru scouting and word of mouth. Top heavy team, shut down top 2 lines equals a win. Below average on the bottom end, but so is everyone this season.
Prior Lake is similar to Tonka for depth, but tougher physically in the dirty areas. Is going to be a dark horse in sections. I like them.
