If I understand this right, youve still got Elk River ranked 23rd?

What math weighting glitch is causing that, the rest of the ranking community has the Elks properly ranked in top 10

Assuming section seedings play out this way does anyone have an opinion on the most compelling 4 vs 5 match up?

I think section 6A would have a really compelling game.. I doubt these rankings would hold true and fergus falls would be number 5 but in the context of the question a SARTELL vs FF game would be great.. They tied 5-5 their first meeting and then Sartell won 5-4 (OT) the second one

Actually no glitch, I had the opportunity on Saturday to watch the STA vs HM game, and by pure coincidence sat next to a North Dakota (UN @ Grand Forks) scout. I asked him about ER, which he said he had watched 5 or 6 times this year, and had good things to say about Jake G ('96). Anyway, asked him to contrast ER with the game we were watching at the heat of the moment, and basically he felt that ER was not up to par with either HM nor STA. He did mentioned that ER was lucky to even tie Duluth East recently, which is fair. ER has a lot of W's against some weaker teams, and some equally impressive W's against stronger teams too. Also, ER is inherently tied to both Duluth East and Blaine, which both do not trend well because of there up and down performances throughout the season. Maybe 25th overall is too low, but more importantly it is the No.1 seed in its section, which is what counts when it comes down to it.

Good luck to ER in the section play-offs this year, I'm sure they can do what it takes to make it to the state tourney this year.

You are absolutely correct that the actual coaches seedings will not fall-out as list above due other factors as head-to-head outcomes and political maneuvering to get a certain seed placement the benefits a teams chances to advance in the section play-offs. When are the seeding meets scheduled to take place? WIAA just had theirs last Sunday, MN must be very soon.

ER isn't the only one out of place. How is WBL even tied with HM in section seedings? Not only did HM beat WBL head to head, but they also have multiple wins against teams in your ranked top 20 (BSM, Wayz, STA), while WBL's best win is what, Stillwater (19th), Rapids (29th) or Centennial (31st)? HM's losses were to mostly top 10 teams, except respectable Blaine and Maht squads. Does beating up on the weaker Suburban East teams (ParkCG, Woodbury, Mounds View) boost WBL over Hill?

Also, there is no "Jake G." playing for Elk River. Somebody is misinformed.

agree to disagree on WBL vs HM. I've watched both teams multiple times this season against various opponents and know the '96 players on both teams. Sections will be a dog fight between the two and even money which one wins, thus from the human prospective they are close which is only verified by the numerical crunching of their game data, give and take some +/- leeway. All is good.
