I know it's almost been a week since this game happened but I'm just getting around to this now. Was anyone at Mariucci for this game? I was there and saw something I've never seem before and wanted to see if someone saw it differently. On Blaine's second goal, did anyone actually see it go into the net? I didn't see it go in and no one around me saw it go in. Lex definitely didn't think it went in. I just wanted to see if anyone else was at the game and might have better insight into what happened.
I remember when all games were televized, even the consolation games. It would be nice to have those games televized again. That way all state tourney games are treated equal, with video review of all goals. Just a thought.

TV is for winners

Yes, it is true. Ever since the JV tournament was implemented, only the winners are on TV. Back when the Tourney was THE Tourney, ALL games were on TV. I think it would be nice to go back to 1 class, I know it will never happen, but wouldn't it be nice to have one TRUE champion again? Every year there is great hockey to be seen in the tourney, I just think it meant a little more to win it all when there was only 1 class.bemused wrote:kpryan88 wrote:I know it's almost been a week since this game happened but I'm just getting around to this now. Consolation games weren't always on TV. Before 1983, the first consolation round was Friday afternoon and was not televised, and both semifinals were Friday night. That year they changed the format to the familiar one in which the four teams in the Thursday afternoon session play again Friday afternoon, pretty obviously so that if they televised the Friday afternoon session there would be a championship round game that would bring more viewers.

I did not see this game but I was at the consolation champ for STA vs Blaine. STA (Stang) roofed one that came immediately back out. Goal light went on but Ref let play continue. Versich scored a clear goal about 2 minutes later. The refs had a conference in the penalty area like during televised gopher games so I assume they had access to the goal cameras. They called Stang's goal good and waved off Versich's. I would think they had the same access the day before. Did the Refs go to the penalty area or just go by the light from the goal judge?
