Casey Staum-D-Elite League Southwest- If any player out of the Elite League gets drafted this upcoming summer, Staum is probably the best bet right now. Even though Team Southwest had an ugly weekend, Staum acquitted himself well. He's a very fluid skater with excellent footwork and he moves the puck effectively. He reportedly picked up some major NCAA offers over the weekend and should be making a college commitment soon.

"acquitted himself well"
??????
"if any player..."
What, you think there will only be 1 player coming out this year?"

And if you are "reporting" multiple NCAA offers, why not share the schools?

Having said that, really enjoy watching this kid skate and good luck to him! My comments are in regards to the article, not the kid himself.

Staum plays in the Elite League, not Elite D League. I'm guessing not as many NCAA or NHL scouts are checking out the D league - not that there aren't some really good players, but scouts are looking for next level ready.

Oh, now I see...he's a defensemen, not "D" league.

Casey has committed to UNO according to his Twitter account, another good pickup from MN for the Mavs https://twitter.com/casey_staum19/statu ... 6906725377

Another nice pick up for the NCHC. You chose the right conference kid.

Anyone have any idea when Staum will be back at the blue line for the Pioneers? Broken ankle 5th game of season. East Side Pioneer Guy? Westmetro? You guys seem to be in the know about most things Hill-Murray.

Don't know , I defer to ESPG. last broken ankle I remember was Brock Boeser in his junior year and he was back in time for playoffs. I will be at Aldrich to see SW and Maht later this month and hoping to see Casey then .

Original prognosis was 5-6 weeks. Not sure if that has changed any.

Latest is that he is most likely going to start practicing next week. Possibly back to some game action the week after that.
