How to create more competitive schedules in Girls' Hockey

Post by u12dad »

Here is an idea to create some parity: create an exchange for coaches to switch games on the same night.

An example would be on Jan 5. the scheduled games are Chaska/Chan vs Mpls, Breck vs Minnehaha United and Hill-Murry vs SSP. As far as I know, these are all non-conference games. Now it might be that two teams might have to play at a non-home site, but this would create an atmosphere were teams can choose to change schedules in the spirit of creating games that will better all of the teams.

There would be very few logistical changes other than bus schedules. Refs are already in place. Rinks are available.

Any ideas why this would or would not work?

The latter two are conference games, at the least.

I really like your idea. I'd like it a lot more on the boys' side. I don't think there are enough top-level girls' high school hockey teams to make this a functional reality.

But I would agree with anything that helps SPU to raise its SOS. : )
