East 2, Wayzata 1, Final. Shots were 26-26, but 20-7 East over the first two periods and 19-6 Wayzata in the third. Nice way to rebound after the WBL loss last night. The defense is apparently pretty sound.

GR gets a 5-0 win at Benilde. Stejskal with the shutout. Nice start to the season for the Orange and Black.

Hermantown and Lakeville South tie 1-1. Shots 36-27 South. Choppy, slow game that never really got any flow to it. South controlled more of the play and had more zone time, but quality chances were probably about even.

There's a lot to like about South, with a strong D corps and three decent lines. They don't have overwhelming offensive skill, but they do a lot of little things right...other than avoiding icings, I guess. DiLaura is a strong goalie.

This Hermantown team has as much star power as they've ever had with Sandelin and Watkins and Samberg, but they're not as deep, especially on D. South was able to bottle them up and frustrate them for long stretches. They're still the class of Class A, but there are probably a number of AA teams that are better than them.

Edina v St. Louis Park

Post by Rich Clarke »

Edina 5 Park 2. Shots 46-22 Edina.

I didn't get the Park goals but scoring was:

First Period

Ed--Walker from Scheerer and Johnson
Ed--Walker from Johnson
Ed--Jungles from Jake Boltmann and Crosby
St. L.P

Second Period

St. L.P

Third Period

Ed--Crosby from Jungles
Ed--Walker

Edina scored its first three goals in the first four minutes of the game and then coasted a bit and Park got back into the game. Edina scored two in the first four minutes of the third to pull away. Edina was 0 for 5 on the pp, Park 0 for 3.

Century 7 Mayo 0, Mayo had 3 shots and 3 major penalties through 2 periods.

Century tied Waseca earlier

Rochester hockey has fallen off a cliff in 7 short years.
