Since Blake is amazing and clearly worthy of top 10 status, this is an obvious selection  Seriously, though, these are two teams with lots of young talent. Jake Braccini has started to pile up some points, and Buffalo has strong goaltending. Fun fact: Buffalo’s main goalie (Mueller) has four wins on the season, all by shut out.

Century may win 20 games but needs a win over a top 20 team to get a top two seed. White Bear Lake may be that team as they could be on a downer after an ot loss to Edina and taking this game too lightly.

Farmington plays North in a key 1AA matchup.
Luverne plays New Ulm in a key 3A matchup. Edit... Luverne plays Chanhassen
(Don't sleep on Irondale or Tartan 4AA, as one of the few if not only sections to play all 4 quarterfinal games in one place in the same day it might be worth the day trip)

Farmington vs North should be telling. Goldy makes a great point about 4AA. Should be fun come February!

I’ll keep my eye on the Jefferson/Hopkins game (a bit sad this is even a talking point). Great chance for the Jags to prove they are better than their record (as they did last year’s 2nd half before making a run to the 3AA finals). This group of juniors and seniors made state as bantams, and last year’s varsity squad only lost 3 or 4 players. We’ll see if the 2nd half run starts tomorrow!

The Jags are better than their record. Their coach is worse than their record. Chemistry is the worst in Jefferson history.

Is it me or do alof of fans overlook team chemistry and coaching. Talent is only 1/3 of what a team needs to truly succeed.

Just tuned into the cube and it looks like GR and Holy Family are tied at 1 after 1.

4-1 after 2. HF scores with 11 seconds left. I don't know SOG but Holum is getting a workout.

I don’t think that fans necessarily overlook the importance of coaching and chemistry, but it’s just difficult to gauge these factors without being very close to the team. I do think that most knowledgeable fans can tell when something is “off” with a team, but figuring out the exact cause is difficult, and the fix is beyond their control anyway.

Century scores 3 goals on 8 shots and beats WBL 3-1. That might be the first win over a top 10 team in over a decade for any Rochester public school.

5-1 final as HF adds one with 13 seconds to go in game on a 5 on 3 PP. Holum saved 31 of 32 in the 3rd. 72 saves on 77 shots for the game.

I wouldn’t worry about the losses if I was Centennial/WBL. Consider themselves lucky it happened at this time of the year. Great night for the underdogs, but it’s likely the losers today are going to be playing for more than a Saturday night party at the end of their seasons.
