Super Bowl "bump"
As someone who's moved away from MN, I was wondering if any schools have been doing anything to boost attendance/visibility/etc. given all of the attention the metro is getting. I've heard the ice fishing community is making an absolute killing from this week, but I can't think of a better winter tradition than high school hockey.

Re: Super Bowl "bump"
I don’t think there’s been anything to capitalize on it. It takes a lot of talk and a lot of marketing efforts to really make it happen. Basketball would probably get the bump before, hell look at the Wolves with the bump they saw in notable figures over the Wild last night.
However, there have been local schools seeing notable individuals visiting. Al Roker and others who have been renting in Edina have swung by to see what goes on at some science fairs and other things. But that may be because Michelle Tafoya lives there and is a part of NBC.

Hockey wouldn't be hockey if it was mainstream enough to get celebrity attention. Its kinda the point. You're either all in or don't get it and don't bother with it. Its hard to be a casual fan who never played and doesn't understand the nuances of the game, that caps the fan base and I'm fine with that.

Love this and agree. It’s built it’s community of tight-knit individuals who all appreciate each other even when we argue and “hate” each other. It’s a niche and I think many of us are happy with it being that way.Thegoldenjet wrote:Hockey wouldn't be hockey if it was mainstream enough to get celebrity attention. Its kinda the point.
