Breck 2, Marshall 0 after one. Both goals came toward the end of the period.

SEC 3A is accustomed to these type of games at THE STATE TOURNEY,unfortunately. The Sec has had more goals scored on it collectively in the QUARTERFINALS than any of the other SECTIONS.

Many of the programs don't have ice available year-round. They have kids with athletic ability and a will to compete,but, without ice time and training they will struggle...Hopefully, these sw mn communities will continue to play and improve their teams..Marshall has built a fantastic 2-sheet facility, from which only good things should come.

Red Wing vs. Proctor/Hermantown

No score after one. The Mirage have a slight lead in the SOG department, 10 to 9. Good game.

It would seem about time that Breck would want to move up to Class AA like Blake did, they have all these girls who are D1 college recruits, HP 15, HP 16, HP 17 kids but yet they want to win a class A title, why? play with the top teams in the sections, and not just your regular season schedule. About time they moved up 60-15 in shots on goal is not good for the game and either are 9-2 scorers at State! Just one persons opinion

Proctor/Hermantown jumps out to a 2-0 lead in the second period. Their first goal came on an interception of an errant pass deep in the Wingers zone. Their second came on a scramble in front of the Wingers' goal.

The Mirage are doing a fine job of containing Heise so far. Almost all of her shots have come from long range. She has, however, drawn three penalties but the Wingers have failed to capitalize.

No. 3 seed Red Wing falls to unseeded Proctor/Hermantown 1-3. Shots were pretty even, with the Mirage putting 26 on net to the Wingers' 23.

The Mirage did a great job in containing Miss Hockey finalist Taylor Heise all game. Kudos to the coaches for drawing up an excellent game plan. I thought they were the better passing team whereas the Wingers relied too much on individual efforts.

Warroad takes a 1-0 lead on a goal by Tiffany Foster. Toward the end of the period New Ulm's goalie Cassie Reed stopped a clean breakaway to keep it at one. Shots 10-3 Warroad.

Now 3-0 after two on two pretty goals by Hannah Corneliusen. First was a beautiful deke on a breakaway and the second on a great wrister. Lots of odd man rushes - both ways - but so far New Ulm hasn't been able to convert. Shots are now 25-11.

Warroad adds two more in the 3rd period to make it a 5-0 final. Hoping the Alex/SPU game will be more competitive.

Samantha Burke gets the only goal of the period to put St. Paul United up 1-0 in the first. Good matchup between two good teams. Shots are 12-7 United.

Kristin Trosvig scored twice in the second period to put Alexandria up 2-1 at the end of two. Samantha Burke nearly tied it up at the end of the period on a beautiful move to the net, but 8th grade goalie Hailee Bailey made a huge save to keep her team ahead going into the 3rd.

4th seeded Alexandria hangs on for a 3-2 win over 5th seed St. Paul United, thanks in large part to the outstanding goaltending they got from 8th grader Hailee Bailey.

By far the best game of the quarterfinals as it could have easily gone either way.

Centennial leads Lakeville South 1-0 after one. Lakeville had a couple of golden chances that they failed to capitalize on and, other than when they were a player short, had the puck in Centennial's end for much of the period. SOG are 10-6 Lakeville South.

Much better period for Centennial, total domination at times, doing everything but score. South's goaltender, Lexi Baker, was spectacular, coming up with maybe a half-dozen tremendous saves to keep it a one goal game. Toward the end of the period Lakeville had a couple of very good chances to even the score, but overall the second period was all Centennial.

Second seeded Centennial scores the only goal of the 3rd period to beat a determined Lakeville South team 2-0. Centennial's goal came off the stick of Anneke Linser, a beautiful tip at the goal mouth on a feed from Gabbie Hughes.
This was a very entertaining game, with excellent goaltending on both ends.

Good matchup in today's second game which is scoreless after one. No. 3 seed Hill-Murray had a slight edge over Eagan in overall play and zone time, but good scoring chances were hard to come by, thanks to good team defense by both teams. Shots are 9-7 Pioneers.

Another upset in the making? Eagan jumps out to a 2-0 lead on two very nice goals. The first one in particular was a beauty. with Jenna Ruiz making a great move to get around the Pioneer defender and putting it away. Brooke Peplinski started the play, making a perfect pass right on the tape of Ruix's stick.

Eagan's second goal came as the result an interception of an ill-advised pass across center ice. Taylor Anderson, who has impressed the whole game, picked it off and moved into close range before firing a perfect shot that eluded Hill-Murray's goaltender.

The Pioneers get one in the 3rd and had a number of good chances to send the game into overtime, but it was not meant to be. They ended up outshooting the Wildcats 25-15, but Maddie Nickell stood tall and was able to limit the Pioneers to a single goal.

Eagan moves to the semifinal and will face Centennial tomorrow night at 6PM.

Edina takes a 2-0 lead on Brainerd/Little Falls in the 1st period. Goals by Emily Oden and Tella Jungels, the latter coming on a two man advantage. Brainerd could only muster one shot on goal to Edina's 9. Unless Brainerd can generate something resembling offensive pressure this one could go to running time before the end of the 2nd period.

The Warriors came out strong in the 2nd period, generating a couple of promising scoring chances, but could not convert. As the period wore on Edina re-established control and converted on two more, the first coming off the stick of CC Bowlby on the power play. Shots are now 25-4 which is very indicative of the play on the ice.

Although the Warriors couldn't get on the scorecard, they got better each period and gave it everything they had until the final horn. Congrats to them on playing and keeping the Hornets off the scoreboard in the 3rd.
