Cathedral 5, Alex 2. Cathedral owned the first period with 2 goals on 13(?) shots (one shot on goal.for Alex) including the first of the game. Alex came back and tied it at 2-2 at the end of two. The third, Perbix, Warner and Motzko took over and Alex couldn't answer.

A physical game, but fairly clean with only one penalty a side. The refs definitely let them play and I thought were very consistant.

Alex was without Caleb Strong again. I would give Chris Loken the star of the game for Alex as he turned away several Crusader odd man rushes, keeping the Cardinals in the game in the first period.

So I've noticed a trend in the past week or so that's been driving me nuts, and its top line leading scorers scoring the 10th, 11th, 12th and in one case, SIXTEENTH GOAL of the game with 3 minutes left in the third period.

I noticed it last week with Elk River, when Humphrey scored the 16th goal, assisted by Michaelis.

Then on Saturday, Wolesky (2nd leading scorer for Dodge County behind Brody Lamb) scores the 13th goal ON THE POWERPLAY with 50 seconds left in the game.

And then last night, New Ulm is beating Windom 8-2, and New Ulm's leading scorer (Schugel) scores the 9th goal with 6 1/2 minutes left in the game.

What's wrong with rolling your third and 4th line for the 3rd period, mixing in your 2nd line every once in awhile, to give these kids some experience. This is where I draw the line, quit embarrassing opponents and give some kids who probably don't get a lot of playing time at the varsity level a shot.
