As a way of coping with sports withdrawals, I did a mini research project. The first team listed each year is the AA state champion. The second team listed is the team that finished the season #1 in overall PageStat (both classes). A big thanks to Lee for his great archives on Minnhock. I apologize for the physical length of this post. I don't know how to insert a table like Exiled One does for the "Who's Not Coming Back" thread.

Very interesting, and thanks for doing this! I didn't realize that in the last 20 years only two northern teams have won it.

Actually it's 3. Duluth East, Roseau (twice), and Grand Rapids. You could throw in 2016 Hermantown who looks like they very-well could've won the AA title that year, as well.MNHockeyFan wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 4:52 pm Very interesting, and thanks for doing this! One thing I find interesting is that from 1998-2005, 6 of 8 AA champions also finished #1 in PageStat, while since 2005 only 4 of 15 AA champions have finished #1. I think we can attribute this to an increase in depth and talent in the state as a whole.

The ’98 Duluth East and ’99 Roseau teams are each more than 20 years ago. And as far as the “very-well could’ve” 2016 Hermantown team it will always be “very-well could’ve” and never count for anything.Brodziak Fan Club wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 6:10 pmActually it's 3. The 2007 State Championship was actually the Section 8 Championship!

But that was the only one.RoseauHockeyFan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2020 12:13 pm The 2007 State Championship was actually the Section 8 Championship!![]()
