It will be interesting to hear the outcome and key talking points if people in attendance are willing to share.elliott70 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 9:06 amcovid and the season

My schedule probably won't allow that, but I'll ask a couple of questions here as maybe my assumptions are incorrect:elliott70 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 10:32 amIf you want to listen in via zoom contact Derek Ricke. covid and the season - My assumption is that there is definitely risk things could change and there will certainly be a few modifications to the youth hockey season, but for the most part if we assume things remain relatively stable with COVID-19, then the youth season will occur in a "somewhat normal" way, at least from a schedule standpoint?
19u plan - Is this to specifically to discuss the HS teams and any agreement/relationship with MSHSL for the upcoming season?
budget - Is there a concern on this topic above what there is in a normal year?

covid - emphasis on USAH return to play safety measures. discussion what various districts/associations plan on doing. Scheduling near to normal.
staying flexible to what might come up and how to communicate that info.
19U - the BOD will have to approve anything that is outside of the norm. My guess is that some sort of plan will be presented for approval with means of adapting if necessary. Odds are it will not be an agreement with MSHSL but with their knowledge.
Budget - Possible adjustments to be made depending on how things transpire and how to do it with ease (or less difficulty) than having a special BOD meeting.
Again, my perception and not necessarily what will happen.

Re: MH Sept 2020 board meeting
Appreciate the insight. Regarding 19U hopefully decisions are made that allows the players the opportunity to play an entire season (with a state tournament) if that can be done with reasonable health risk (which as of today, seems possible/feasible).elliott70 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 11:04 amI will give you my best shot...InThePipes wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 10:55 amMy schedule probably won't allow that, but I'll ask a couple of questions here as maybe my assumptions are incorrect:

Re: MH Sept 2020 board meeting
This is totally a petty question but I'm fairly new MN Hockey and have always been curious....why do Minnesotan's refer to it as 19U hockey when USA Hockey doesn't recognize 19U youth hockey. Is there something I'm missing? Wouldn't any kid currently in high school (junior or senior) be eligible for USA Hockey 18U team?

MH started 19U for girls high school players that did not have a place to play.arcticpurple wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 11:33 pm This is totally a petty question but I'm fairly new MN Hockey and have always been curious....why do Minnesotan's refer to it as 19U hockey when USA Hockey doesn't recognize 19U youth hockey. It is now being considered as an alternative to high school hockey if the season is cancelled or shortened.
19 age to accommodate seniors that may turn 19 earlier than most.
Re: MH Sept 2020 board meeting
Board meeting relatively uneventful.
Finances in good shape and registration pretty much on par with last year.
Covid - pretty much decided at each district/association but pretty much based on what arenas are allowing which is pretty much what USAH return to the game states. NO surprises.
19U no formal action taken... plan is being developed 'just in case'.
Perhaps biggest issue was changing the penalty for checking from behind and boarding to an automatic major and 10 minute misconduct for peewees and bantams. It was defeated 14 to 5.
Adopted a plan to have all districts establish a cold weather plan by nest season.
