BHS Hockey Podcast - February 7

Post by YouthHockeyHub »

Another solid show. Karl runs through our AA and A rankings and ton of stuff in the Newsdesk. Great interviews with Pat O'Leary (Wayzata HC) and Joey Pierce (Hermantown). Another nice lap around the track!

- News + AA/A Top 10s --> 0 to 29:18
- O’Leary --> 29:18 to 42:34
- Games of Past --> 42:34 to 1:09:45
- Pierce/Picks --> 1:09:45 to End

Not easily. Tony has some real media cred and can certainly use that. Danny is calling games on the radio. I'm on the Duluth East ticket list and attending those games in person; pretty much any other game I'm commenting on is one I've watched online. We all have a couple of other arenas where we know who to ask very nicely.

There clearly are ways to get into games with a little work--WestMetro seems to have some discovered some sorcery here that he may or may not be willing to share. But it's certainly not a case of walking up to the gate and buying at a window or expecting to be waved through, as was the case in the past. It takes some effort on the front end.

This is actually a great question and I am happy to chime in.

Karl touched on rinks that we have "connections" - those help a lot.

For those that we don't have connections, we are able to phone ahead and request a spot on their media list.

Here is a recap of just Edina in the last two weeks.

Tony for Edina/Blake girls...three days in advance (nope, all full)
Peter for Edina/Tonka girls...same day (in, no problem)
Tony for Edina/BSM boys and girls in late Feb (in, no problem).

So, its hit and miss.

For Hutch and Litch, I was able to get on the list the morning of the game.

All tolled, it is a crap shoot. Which means, we will most likely be attending games where we have the strongest relationships (thankfully we have many) and the least resistance.

Hope that gives you a little better lens into our world.
