Do both Winona and Winona Cotter have hockey teams? The hockey hub says they and has each teams schedule up and posted. Both teams play different opponents tonight. The MSHSL, from what I can see, only has Cotter listed as a 1A team. The Big Nine has Winona listed and shows their scores.

I’d be surprised Winona can field two varsity high school teams but it seems they are.

I’d be surprised Winona can field two varsity high school teams but it seems they are.

Yes, Cotter started a varsity team this season for the first time in like 40 years and are playing as an independent. Unfortunately they have barely been on the ice due to Covid problems. Their only game was a 9-1 drubbing against Waconia at the Marshall Thanksgiving tournament. They have a long way to go to become competitive at this point. From what I gather, a good portion of the players come from the school’s boarding population, so they aren’t drawing much from the Winona youth program.

I was at the Andover vs HF game last Saturday. HF doesn’t have much talent. It will be hard for them to hang with most of the upper level team.

I think Bemidji is a very good squad if they were Class A like they could be they would be in thick of it. Just an interesting score to compare when lookign at DL. The shocker is brainerd who is really struggling this year going on the road to beat the Otters. Good Sign for your Cards!
