I can't seem to find it. I'm surprised MN Prep Spotlight TV isn't doing it. They did the girls sections games last night. Waiting to see if something is tweeted later in the evening. Otherwise I'll have to settle on the Wild up at Winnipeg.

Interesting, I thought the tweet I saw said a different game was on. It did. Chanhassen and Benilde, but that was last night. Sweet. Thanks. At least one tv in Southern Cal will be streaming it.

Wish I could be there. Only got to one game this year (HM v Andover) when I was in town for the holidays. Hopefully next year and ChrisK and I can meet the rest of the crew.

Hill 3
Maple Grove 0

FINAL

I thought this was Hill's best game of the season. They were brilliant the entire night. The score could have easily been 6-0, with at least a couple of pipes hit, a couple of stellar point-blank saves by the Crimson goaltender, and a goal that was disallowed because the net came loose almost simultaneously with the waved-off score.

Hill's goaltender Erickson played great, and made a couple of big saves when it was needed, but Hill's D played almost flawless.

There were a few times Hill had a tough time clearing their own zone, but other than that there really isn't anything to be critical of. This was a complete game for the Pioneers.

3-0 Final for HM over Maple Grove. A really solid night for HM on the defensive side. Godbout carried the offense with a beautiful assist and 2 goals (plus one waved off). Maple Grove couldn't get the vaunted offense going. I've thought this before this year, but I could use 3 more years of Logan Hensler. That kid is 14 years old and plays like a Mr. Hockey worthy defenseman. Maybe he'll decide he likes high school here and stay around longer (yes, I know better, but a guy can hope).

Maple Grove continues there play a great game (Andover) and then play a less than lethal game. I still expect to see both teams come the tourney. This is just helping figure out the seedings. Big game to end the year for HM up at Moorhead on Saturday.

Hill wins 3-0. Give credit to Hill and its coaching staff, who had the better game plan tonight. Maple Grove often takes too many penalties and for some inexplicable reason has trouble scoring at times, which is ridiculous given that their roster has three of the Elite League’s top scorers and loads of additional talent. I continue to believe that MG needs to evaluate their coaching situation this off-season. You can’t be gifted insane talent from the youth program year after year and keep coming up empty at the high school level. I’ll remind folks that Maple Grove’s Bantam AA team has been in the state championship game 4 consecutive years—winning it twice—and they were the favorites to win the title the year the state tourney was cancelled due to COVID (2020). The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Hill totally shut down Maple Grove. They had 3 or 4 decent looks all night. No odd man rushes and I can’t recall any juicy rebounds given up by Erickson. Stellar games again by Begley, Gruba and Hensler.

Saw quite a few pro scouts tonight, including John Hill.
Hensler I’m sure.

agree with all comments above . sogs 27-22 Pios , but between 1st and 2nd D pair the Pios made sure very few were quality Crimson opps , and what few there were Erickson handled well. To shutout 3 of the top 35 AA scorers with combined points of approx 155 and very hot recently , that’s a statement

Hard to argue with any of the takes above, absolutely dominant performance by HM.

Definitely give Hill credit for a good, well executed game plan. Regarding MG they looked flat. If I could figure out how that happens to teams in all sports and how to overcome it I would be in high demand. MG defense had trouble making the breakout passes and when they skated the puck they turned it over, sometimes in very dangerous places. MG also had very few odd man rushes and seemed to take forever to move the puck up ice. Again for their sake I hope they were just flat.

I didn't come away thinking MG couldn't win a rematch. I think, for the most part, the talent level was fairly even. HM's advantage on defense seemed to stand out the most. HM is a much better team playing with the lead. It's how they won the tourney in 2020, having the lead in every game.

A loss to end the season sometimes is a good thing. I bet MG looks much better through sections.

One game certainly doesn't sway me too much, so I agree that anything could happen if there were a rematch, and it wouldn't surprise me to see MG win State this year. But I came away from last night's game feeling that Hill was by far the better team. If MG had 3-4 good scoring opportunities, then Hill had 10-12. There wasn't an aspect of the game I felt MG performed better than Hill at.

So for whatever reason - Hill having an 'on' game, MG having an 'off' game, whatever - I thought it was a lopsided affair. I assume MG will look better, and I'm not sure Hill could look better and don't expect them to play that well every night.

And you're right - Hill is a team that you probably don't want to be playing from behind against.

I thought MG looked like a very good team stymied by a stellar defense, the kind of defense Hill has been know for for a long time now. Erickson played very well, and he got plenty of help from his defense. After the first five minutes, I did not think a shut out was in the offing.

MG may well bounce back. An end of season loss to a good team can remove the pressure of a long winning streak. A rematch at the X would be very interesting. I see the 5AA final will not be at Aldrich, and I'm not interested enough to drive to Elk River for it.

When the Pioneers gathered around Erickson after the final buzzer, I heard a player say, "Statement! Statement baby!" That's what I was thinking myself. I'm bummed I won't be able to see the Moorhead game Saturday. But not too bummed, since I'll be at my kid's game.
