Tonka rescheduled its home game against STMA to tonight starting at 7 p.m. It's a paid stream on MNHockey.TV. The game was moved to today because STMA will be playing on Saturday as an #8 seed in another game. Tonka beat STMA 18-0 a few weeks ago on the road. Tonka's 14 seniors will be honored tonight at home. Tonka starting goalie Hunter Bauer is in street clothes so he won't be playing. STMA switched to Owen Westerman at goaltender from Noah Sutlief in the earlier meeting.

JV: Tonka JV won 14-0 over STMA JV in the early game today. SOG: 65-3.

UPDATE: Tonka 3, STMA 0 after first period. SOG: 17-2.

UPDATE: 8-0 after two periods. SOG: 36-7. Tonka ended the period trying to feed senior defenseman Cooper Hemink, who has zero goals all season despite playing in 23 games. 6'4" Javon Moore is something to see when he gets in stride, there is no "awkwardness" (or something similar*) to his skating as I heard Coach Goldworthy recently describe it. Moore is committed to Minnesota but will play for Sioux City in the USHL next season.

FINAL: 10-0. SOG: 46-11. Hemink almost got his goal late in the game on a power play but just missed with a big reaction by the crowd. A different Tonka senior defenseman (Brayden Thompson) got his first career goal early in the third period. It was no charity shot either, a nice laser from outside. It was the only goal in the two games that I watched Tonka beat STMA (combined 28-0) where Tonka players actually celebrated.

Strange game. GR was dominant for the first half of game. Shots were in their favor 24-8. Then Hermantown goalie gets cut on the hand in a scrum in front of net. After a few minutes to super glue him back into shape Rapids fell off the map. Hawks took it to them the rest of the way. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game flip so much like that.
