While the first official weekly PageStat ratings for boys' hockey won't be posted until this coming Sunday, a preliminary run of the numbers shows two things:

1. St Thomas Academy's rating of 28.49 is the highest ever seen (haven't checked back but it's a fairly safe assumption.

2. They are 4.00 points ahead of #2 Rogers, the biggest spread between #1 and #2 we've seen.

These ratings are not yet "pure", meaning that many teams still have a mix of last year's/this year's rating due to not having played enough games yet.

A couple notes:

1. Duluth East's #64 ranking, should it hold past New Year's, would easily eclipse their worst weekly ranking of #46, set on 1/8/22. For those interested in nerdy stats, https://leepagen.com/pagestat-weekly-summaries.htm shows summaries for each team's PageStat weekly ratings from the 1997-98 season through last season.

2. Only one of the top eight teams in Class AA are from sections 2AA and 6AA. I'd have to check the records, but this hasn't happened in a long time.

3, As dismal as 7AA looks this season so far, the top two teams in Class A (and 3 of the top 6) are in 7A. Cloquet is a surprise...at least to me. We'll see if they can continue their stellar season.

I thought there would be a correlation with the PageStat SOS, but 2AA and 6AA have six of the eight toughest schedules. They usually dominate both factors but aren't (yet) this season.

The shakeup at the top four in AA surprised me but it's been very close at the top all season. Hermantown is showing signs of pulling away in Class A.
