NIT

Post by O-townClown »

Is there any market for this in future years?

* Rogers
* St Thomas
* Shakopee
* Wayzata
* Hill-Murray
* Maple Grove
* Holy Angels
* Cretin

Dates would obviously have to be before the actual tournament.

Thinking out loud...what if Tuesday at the ex-X was a full slate of "bowl games" where students can go through the game day experience one last time and hardcore fans could see 5-6 wildly entertaining games. A "soft landing" so to speak to cushion the cold conclusion to so many seasons.

I'd like to see it, but would enough others to make it viable?

I don't think the MSHSL would sponsor, or even sanction it. And, I don't think the players'/coaches'/schools' hearts would be in it as it isn't the big dance. The non-committed hockey fans would be gearing up for the main tournament, so this would be an after thought for them.

And, it couldn't be at Grand Casino, for two reasons. One, the Wild are not going round give up another day or two (they always seem to have a Tuesday night home game). Two, money to rent the place.

It would be as well received as the NFL Pro Bowl. Unsure who would foot the bill for this as neither the schools or the MSHSL is swimming in cash and at best it would be a friends and family event and Aldrich or similar facility is about all the room they'd need.

These kids, in their minds, have all moved on.

Didn't we used to have the NIT? It was called Tier II :)

Sorry but I imagine there is no chance of this happening. I'm not sure the players/coaches would want it and there would be very very little interest from fans.

It would be like consolation at Mariucci, but with even less excitement.
