Good squad - and a shot right at my old "Walser" affiliation!!!

No longer affilitated, but I think we could call this "Walser Scarlet" if you like!

What I'd really like to see is a league that these kids could play in in the state for Fall/Spring. That would be some great hockey!

Re: Class of 2007 All-Star Team
Joking about your past...

Because of my disgust on transfer I feel that the fall is the only safe time for these leagues because then kids won't transfer 2 weeks before the schoolyear like we see happening currently. These kids will gravitate toward the stacked teams and because summer and Elite programs have better players they are always a peachy thing the kids associate their peachiness to the regular season and try to recreate their feelings from them.

Better do a cross reference to the beloved Thoroughbreds. Anne Dronen is a T-bred for example. Does that disqualify her from the Class of 2007?

Good point! I included TB & SSM players from MN...

Has anyone noticed that there are a lot of great D in this class and it's more thin F wise??? I think that the F's mentioned are great - but just a lot of D & less F's...

Who am I missing? Maybe more from outstate that I don't know as well...

Re: Class of 2007
The D are way stronger based on the # of names and they are all good. Weird how some years are stronger or weaker in some areas. I feel we aren't developing very many elite goalies. It seems 10 to 1 Forwards to goalies atleast.

Re: Class of 2007
Does anyone know what girls have been All Conference or All Honorable Mention from this class?

Nixon is the best goalie of this class hands down. #2 is a huge step down from her.

Many defenseman to choose from but my top end alphabeticly are.....
Horner-BOMB of a slapshot/Great size/Soph Capt./Born Leader.
Lambert-Great wheels/Great kid/Great program.
Lewis-Will cut your heart out to win/Never quits.
Reilly-Plays with the best/Is the best/Great speed.
Udvig-Gets better every time out/Defensive defensman.
Windmeier-Great size/Devours weak opponents/When healthy, a mighty force.
Yungner-Fearless/Agressive/Super kid with great heart.

My forward oppinions shall stay with me but I'll pose this ? to you all. Which ones that you deem "ELITE" are team players? IE...Catlin Hogan and Tiffany Johnson.

#4 from beantown

Re: Class of 2007
1st off...Never heard of Nixon! she is probably good. Where does she play?
You must be a dad from the northern subs! Just guessing. We will see if they can take their team to state..

Re: Class of 2007
hhhtoad, You are not that big of a girls hs hockey follower if you've never even heard of ASHLEY NIXON. She is the best jr. goalie in the state. Blaine plays in one of the toughest sections, being 3AA. Centennial, North St. Paul, Stillwater, WBL and others make this a great section to watch in Feb. Blaine will need someone to score some goals this season as they lost their best player to SCSU. S. Nixon had something like 45 goals last year, the next closest player had maybe 10 goals. So, it is doubtful that A. Nixon can take her team to state all by herself.

Re: Class of 2007
Ask Cloquet about their goalie from last year? If they didn't have her they would not have been to state. FOR SURE! They got out shot every game and out played too. Having a great goalie can do the impossible!

Re: Class of 2007
Getting outplayed EVERY game?? That might be stretching it. Yes they did have an outstanding goalie, possibly the best in girls highschool history. Doing the impossible sometimes depends on what section your in as well. Last year Cloquet had players like Manua, Hakala, Bartholi, that pretty good 8th grader: Sadie ?? Blaine had players like S. Nixon, K. Hanlon, A. Nixon and ugh... um'... well they had a player and two goalies. Blaine has a lot of quality role players who do exactly what their coach tells them to do.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... >mnhock at: 9/4/05 11:50 am

Re: Class of 2007
For sure. Cloquet was in a weak section. And I've watched them many times last year. If Ashley is in a tough section she might as well go to EP...seems everyone is flooding there anyways.

They (EP) wouldn't say no.

Last year was Nixons first year. She played two years of Bantam A before switching over. She had better #'s than Hanlon. No one has answered my ? about team playing forwards from the class of '07. What's up?

Beantown Bobby

team players

Quote:
"Which ones that you deem "ELITE" are team players?"

I can name 2 team players, BB. Both are from Rochester Mayo, hence some may dispute whether or not Katie Psimos and Ally Harwood fall into "elite" status. As a 9th grader, Katie Psimos scored 40 goals, but in the offseason coach John Gamble met with her and asked her to change her role. She did, used her athleticism for more than scoring goals and Mayo became a better team.

While Psimos was scoring 40 goals in 03-04, Ally Harwood was assisting most all of those and more. She's a very talented player who excels on the boards, and almost has to be encouraged to score goals as much as she passes, and she does score goals.

Re: team players
Maria Stoa is a team player. When the TV cameras came out to watch her as an 8th grader she set up her teammates about a half-dozen times instead of doing it alone.

Any others that we should add to this list and/or any standout performances this season by kids in this group listed above, etc.?

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckeyfan at: 2/20/06 4:08 pm

Re: Class of 2007 All-Star Team
I don't think this is fair to say. You aren't considering any Southern team's "All-stars". Like for example Kristin Faber.

Juniors
I think there is already, at this very early point in time...a clear favorite for 2007 Ms. Hockey...but that's merely my opinion. Noticed her visiting my favorite rink awhile back...which I was happy to see.
