SOG in the first period were sick in favor of the Gophers, but you still gotta score (according to Captain Obvious )

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005

Look at the four Frozen 4 teams: Minnesota, Denver, North Dakota, and Colorado College. Hmm... I wonder which conference was the best this year?<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":b">

I guess who can put the whole east v. west talent argument to rest.
________________________________________________________________

Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right

Re: UPDATES ON THE GOPHER VS. CORNELL GAME
Crowds for the Frozen Four should be interesting:

Denver: A little over 19 driving hours from Columbus
Colorado College: About the same as Denver
North Dakota: Over 17 driving hours from Columbus
Minnesota: A lil over 12 driving hours from Columbus

I'd almost rather have the frozen four in someone's home barn for these games opposed to some random arena in a random city in the U.S where it could be very difficult to get big crowds in, such as this year.

Same thing goes for the NCAA Regional Tournament that just wrapped up today. Except for the Gopher and Michigan games, all the other one's seemed to have ghost town-like crowds. If you move it closer to someone's home arena, you'll get a lil bigger crowd.

For example, yesterday you had Bemidji vs. Denver in....Massachuestts? That's nowhere near Den. or BSU.

This is a porb. that needs to be addressed, in my opinion.

Re: UPDATES ON THE GOPHER VS. CORNELL GAME
You got a point there. I dunno how they would pick the arena, but it would be alot better for fans. It would be nice if it was closer though.

Re: UPDATES ON THE GOPHER VS. CORNELL GAME
I listened to the radio after the game. They were interviewing Mike Guentzel (assistant and defensive coach). He truly believes that Hirsch and Goglioski should be ready 2 weeks from now. I sure hope so!

Re: UPDATES ON THE GOPHER VS. CORNELL GAME
Good to hear that Goli and Hirsch are coming back, but im kinda torn right now. It seems like the team is clicking and playing well right now. Atherton played very well this weekend and Gordon played well also. Do you guys think it could disrupt the flow they had going in the games this weekend?

Re: UPDATES ON THE GOPHER VS. CORNELL GAME
I can understand your argument, but I think it can only help them. The Gophers were 0-15 on the power play this weekend, and Goligoski and Hirsch are great on the power play. With a little help from them the Gophers can get some more offense.

Re: UPDATES ON THE GOPHER VS. CORNELL GAME
Yeah, it was so frustrating to watch that, especially in the Maine game...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes">

Well you must think about Denver and Cornell's PK's though. Denver I believe had the 3rd best PK % in the nation, and Cornell was a very big squad who wouldn't allow anything to go through the slot.

Still, 15 powerplays? They needed at least a goal or 2 out of 15....

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... Hillfan at: 3/27/05 8:50 pm

Gophers PP
Well, now that Hirsch has proven he knows how to "go hard to the net", it will be great to get him back on the powerplay. (Sorry, couldn't pass that one up). <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">
College hockey seems to be making a statement regarding calling it closer, the other Regional games had revolving doors on the penalty boxes. Specialty teams will be huge at the Frozen 4, and getting Goligoski and Hirsch back could be just the boost the Gophs need to make some noise in Columbus.
Absolutely ridiculous to take the 2 week break here, just to avoid the BB Final 4. Play the Semis on Friday night, the Finals on Sunday to avoid conflicting with their Final 4, and its a win-win for all of us. Preaching to the choir on here I'm sure, we'd all watch the hockey games no matter what they were matched up against.

Good point
BabyBlue, good point. It did kinda hurt us not having those two on the PP, Hagemo did well though.

Re: Good point
I was impressed by the play of P.J. Atherton. He probably played the most physical of any of the Gopher "D". Also, made some very good decisions.

Well with Hirsch and Goglioski most likely coming back, it looks like the Goph's should be ready for a rematch against UND. Good luck guys!

Re: Good Point
I'll probably get my behind spanked for this, but I see a North Dakota/Colorado College Frozen Four final. Who knows how the Sioux ended up where they are, but they sure picked a good time to peak. And CC has looked good the past few weeks, too, peaking at the right time.

No matter who wins, it's an ALL-WCHA FROZEN FOUR TOURNAMENT!! As it should be... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p">

Re: Good Point
Its so annoying out here in Colorado. All these kids are talking about how great Colorado hockey is (not denying CC and DU are good) but Im just like, yo half of those teams consist of minnesotans! It just bugs me cause we will watch a game and they have NO idea what is going on. The avalanche being good doesnt help either.
