Minnesota Hockey Board Elections
I know that the MNHOCKEY handbook states who gets to vote for these postions but:

Why don't the members of Minnesota Hockey get a vote on who they want on the board?

Members pay for almost 95% (guessed on pertentage, have not seen a financial report) of the funds that go into Minnesota hockey but yet don't have a say on who runs the program for their children. Their say is to their local district director. Some directors are good and bring there concerns but the director, in turn will cast one vote to what he or she wants. That may not be what the memebrs of his or her district want.

Members get to vote for their local association boards and distrcit boards, why can 't they vote for the Governing Authoirty in the sate?

And yes, I have volunteered to be a board member. Applied twice and lost both times to the incumbent.

Re: Minnesota Hockey Board Elections
The District Dirctors have brought up the fact that only 12 of the 27 board members are elected by youth hockey membership.
The senior mens and womens reps are voted on by their membership I believe as are the HS coaches reps.

But yes the VP's, controller, and president are voted on purely by the existing board members.

There are openings this year (check teh mn hockey web page).
I will gladly nominate anyone interested in running and introduce you (no promises on who I would vote for). The Spring meeting is the end of April in Detroit Lakes.

that is the problem. one becomes a d.d. for awhile then goes to a vp. Now i am not saying the vps are not needed but they have more power than the dd . it should not be this way .. The power should be in the hands of dd... many issues come up and the overwhelming support of the dd only to be squashed by the old timers that hold the vp's.... Most of the vp are so removed from the people that they dont know what is going on outside thier meeting room 4 times a year.. ok i know they go to committe meetings but they just dont get the chance to hear from the people they are suppose to representing and yes it is a thankless job... but i believe the dd should have more of a say and not overruled by the vp's
