Blaine's 2000 championship trophy
Blaine's 2000 championship trophy
I was going to post a topic about this earlier, but I never thought about it when I was on here. Does anyone else remember hearing about this? Apparently some punk kid broke into Blaine's high school in the middle of the night back in the spring of 2000. They broke into the trophy case and stole the 2000 class AA state championship trophy just months after they won it. I guess they didn't feel Blaine deserved it that particular year.

It was all over the press. Newspapers, top story on the news all over the metro area, sports center, they even talked about it on national television during one of the Stanley Cup games.

What's everyone's opinion about this heroic gesture?

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... erb1999 at: 3/8/04 1:07 am

Wasn't it some Elk River kids that felt like ER should have won it that year but proceeded to melt down a 4-0 lead against Osseo. That is what I remember.

well
Well i never did hear of this but i remember watching the champianship game that year agianst East and Blaine murdered them, i also watched the elks beat blaine badley like 8-0 earlier in the year, so maybe they should have been there, maybe the elks were the best team in hte state that year but thye choaked in the playoffs ans that is part of the game. In the highschools playoffs you had better birng your A game and better not overlook anyone or you might just get upset no matter how good you are

Blaine's playoff run was like Seabiscuit over War Admiral. Nobody gave Blaine a chance and they got better and stronger every game. It was impressive.

I heard Sarsland's using the trophy as a door stop in his fish house.

trophy 2000
I must say, I loved watching Blaine play that year in the state tourney.
They surprised a lot of people, including me.
It got me more interested in the team, school, and town believe it or not.

To me, breaking into a school and stealing the trophy is a bad sign of sour grapes. The kids who did it deserve to be expelled. Did they ever find out who did it?

Re: trophy 2000
wdc, believe me, I have nothing against Blaine. I sat in the stands, in the players' area for that tournament, and I had trouble watching the Blaine games. The reason is the incredible number of hotties that town produces. They were everywhere!
Scheids
(A legend in his girlfriend's mind.)

Contending for what finals?
