orono

Post by hockjock11 »

orono looked like the better team, they deserve it, and i like to see a team win that doesn't recruit and only has kids from that town playing.

Yltalo wins it

Post by breckfan »

Self titled Glen "G-Unit" Yltalo puts away the game winner. One-handed with almost no angle on the net.

Did the goalie play a part in it?

Post by GivinYaTheBusiness »

I gotta ask...since Warroad's goalie had gotten bashed in the head a good 5 times at least...does anyone think this could have played a part?

It must have. After all he gave up all of one powerplay goal after all that punishment on an impossible shot that he nearly stopped. Newsflash: Maybe it had a little bit to do with a complete lack of scoring by Warroad and overall offensive domination by Orono. Warroad's goalie was outstanding and the best player on the ice. Otherwise warroad would have never made it to overtime.

Once again, poor refereeing ruins a good game. Orono should've been called on the goalie interference when the Orono player ran into the goaltender. However, the refs find reason to call Warroad for a hooking call in overtime. If they're going to "let 'em play," they should let them all play ... shouldn't be any biased penalty calling. Otherwise, a good game.

wdc fan don't you ever compare wadena to warroad, that like comparing the boston bruins to monticellos varisty hockey team <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/nerd.gif ALT="8o">

Wadena didnt put up much of a fight against the team that will probably take 4th place... and Warroad just got outplayed, granted they didnt play their best, they still got out worked.

Wadena Albert Lea should be a great game tomorrow<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

penalties

Post by hshockeyfan »

To say that the call in OT should not have been made is ridiculous. The kid had an open breakaway if not for the hook and then two-handed slash. If youre not gonna call that then you might as well not have officials on the ice. About the goalie interference, the Orono player really didnt hit Sorrels that hard. What made it hurt for Sorrels was that he was spinning and his head hit the post. That is unfortunate but does not warrant a penalty against Orono. Its probably better that the Warroad fans have something to whine about though, otherwise they would have to admit that their team isnt Gods gift to MN. Now at least they can believe they got screwed.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

goalie

Post by oggie9 »

that goalie for warroad is a true hockey player, the last hit he took his helmet flew of and he bonked his head on the post, and got right back up what a warrior.

wasn't the penalty called for slashing? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes"> oh well its over now and orono was the better team. they deserve it they out shot it and have homegrown talent. now warroad will just have to admit they have no excuse. they just were too cocky and got in over their heads<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> their game obviously was on... just wasnt up to the challenge they faced...

The better team tonight won. Orono carried the play after the Warroad goal. It was a great game, and a great step forward for the "A" tournament.

What's up now Slapshooter?

Post by TopShelf20 »

I admit I even thought they would walk through this thing...until the LOW game. There HAS to be better teams than Warroad I though and Orono proved me right. They completely dominated this game. Congratulations to the Spartans on a deserving and great game.

Warroads game

Post by Warroadice »

Yeah Warroad lost and I am still shocked. Lots of standing around on the ice hurt them. The non call on the goalie sucked but don't say he didn't get hit hard on it, it took his mask off and moved him back hard into the net, but lets face facts even without that Warroad didn't show up and it cost them. Sad to see but they lost to a good team. As for getting down on Warroad give it up, its over, now move on, Will be fun to see if Orono can come out and finish it off now! Good luck to them

classy post

Post by hockeydad »

That was a class post warroadice. My son was at the game and he said it was a great one to watch. He was especially impressed with the warroad goalie (My kid's a goalie too). He had a game like that against Mankato East this year, with his helmet getting knocked off getting run into four or five times, so he could empathize. said the guy was a tough kid and kept warroad in the game.

Post by 1hockeyluver »

I would just like to say that if you can't win with pride and you must kick these kids when they are down you really have no morals.

Congrats to orono and warroad for playing in the 2004 state tourney. What an honor it is and it should not be forgotten.

Remember that every player on each of these teams has heart and passion for the game and it is truly disgraceful to throw out posts about recruiting and what not. grow up now. congratulate your team and be a true fan.
Win with pride and lose with pride.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

did the best team win?

Post by ramsfan »

I have to start with a huge question. Did the best team really win? I have watched the warriors play numerous times this year and tonight just wasn't the warriors i have seen in the past. I have to say the best team is going to win the consolation championship game. I know i am going to get alot of flak for this comment but this just wasn't the warrior team that kicked the snot out of our Rams 15-1. Congrats to orono tonight, i think you beat the best team so it should be all down hill from here.

I agree with Ramsfan, don't get me wrong here Orono played an outstanding game tonight. the first 5 minutes of the game when the warriors were buzzing is usually how they played all game long. Orono did a great job matching up with them and i have never seen anyone break out on warroad that easy. So ya i belive warroad played a horrible game tonight, but that is their fault they didn't show up to play. im not taking anything away from orono because they are a great team and was an exciting game, probley the best game of the whole class a tourny, but i wish the warriors would have came out ready to play, congrats on a good season, but a bad note to end on.

I gotta hand it to you Warroad people/fans, you're being very realistic about this game. We all know that Orono outplayed the better team here and both teams recieved what they deserved. I'm just shocked the Warroad people are taking this so easy.
*note- this is a compliment to you Warroad people
Good Luck next year

Orono impressed me

Post by Videoscout »

I was impressed with Orono. Warroad looked tired in the third. Orono took it to them. I lost a drink to metromick on this one. I'm still in shock.

Good luck to Orono and I would be even more shocked if it isn't Orono and Breck (all-metro) in the finals.

Did Warroad peak too early?

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/pimp.gif ALT=":hat"> we will never know.

How about that slashing call in OT? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol">
